Natural Gas (LNG, Pipelines, & Distribution)

Exactly. Underwater pipelines are not exactly high tech. MA should pursue it on paper, and then approach NY, explaining that MA would much rather work with NY to get this done and have the opportunity for some jobs in NY to come from it, but if they’re not interested, working with NJ is on the...

Go around them or persuade them.

Natural Gas (LNG, Pipelines, & Distribution)

Or just build the pipelines necessary to connect to the broader natural gas network.

Shift away from an overabundant cheap and reliable source of energy.

Cape Cod Rail, Bridges and Highways

I was hoping for just a simple map, sorry if that wasn’t clear.

Cape Cod Rail, Bridges and Highways

I'm sure it was shared somewhere, but I'm struggling to find it. Does anyone know where I can find the proposed layout as seen in that instagram video? All the others seem to have no rotaries, and trying to compare a video to an image is a bit of a hassle.

    Commuter Rail to New Hampshire?

That does not mean building a rail line will turn NH into MA. Its all about marketing: position the CR as a way to make it easier for Republicans to relocate to NH.

    Crazy Highway Pitches

Thats pretty much it. In the interest of keeping things tidy, I’d say down to rt 44, but the area around 3a in Kingston is a tight fit.

Massachusetts Turnpike/I-90 (Current Projects, Conceptual Improvements, & Long Term)

That makes sense to me. Nothing against Chick-Fil-A, but people need to be able to grab food while they're on trips, and people drive on Sundays.

    Crazy Highway Pitches

I’m not talking about traffic after the bridge on rte 6. Rte 3 is quite congested, well away from the canal. Edit: and lets be honest, if rte 3 wasn't overly congested, then they would have their gimmicky 'its okay to drive in the breakdown lane during rush hour' solution. Something should be done?

    Crazy Highway Pitches

Does anyone know of any information on any efforts to widen rte 3 south? There's an old thread on it that hasn't been touched in a decade: https://archboston.com/community/threads/route-3-widening.4408/ I thought for sure there would be something connected to the canal bridge project, but...

    Crazy Highway Pitches

Well, they *could* blast out the outcrops, but that’d take forever to get approced. Is anyone who is involved w/ the West Springfield CSX yard educating people about how it could ease congestion on I-90?

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

I’m thinking the purpose would be to avoid congestion from outlying suburbs going into Providence. Also, there was an Amtrak stop in the 70s, apparently. Have to think population growth in the meantime might make it more useful than then: Bristol County is about 30% more populous than in 1970.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

Amtrak Northeast Regional stop in Mansfield. Either at the existing stop or right alongside 495. Existing would seem easier, might annoy local NIMBYs. Alongside 495 would seem more convenient, as it’d be easier to get to for anyone who is between Providence and 128.

    Crazy Highway Pitches

What the Pike really needs is some improvements between I-84 and 146/Worcester. I don’t know what it is about Worcester, but without fail, that stretch of the Pike jams up constantly. What to do, I don’t know - but I’m not diametrically opposed to one more lane, myself.

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

As long as you’re drawing from a wider pool of supply, the more options you have to draw from, the better a fit you’ll be able to find. Even if the overall imbalance between supply and demand remains constant. When you can choose from a wider array of towns, you’re more likely to find one that...

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

I’m intrigued by the discrepancies in the responses here. One camp insists that the suburbs are too allergic to development for remote work to help alleviate housing shortages. The other wonders why anyone would move into those cities desperate for businesses and residents to move in...

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

And that vitality would be spread across everywhere else. Sorry, but I’m not sorry to see the urban cores get knocked down a peg when they’re unaffordable to live in. If they were affordable, overall, then it would be another story. As it is, if they cannot thrive on their own populations, then...

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

Driving transit ridership is not a goal. The transit systems exist to fulfill a need for the populace, the populace does not exist to keep the transit systems solvent. And I’m not saying we have to subsidize remote work - that is just my more ambitious plan. There are cities trying entice...
