New Red and Orange Line Cars

I can’t cite the interview, but I distinctly remember him saying they hire him to come in once in a while if needed but has already recorded thousands of words and phrases. Will try to dig it up at some point.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: 2/28/18: Thank You TransitMatters for a Bold and Practical Vision Is there a reason why you believe that electrifying the CR system via catenary would be so difficult? And what about third rail power like Metro North?

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

The lane is not for just primarily for the 34 bus but actually for the many routes that travel from Forest Hills to Roslindale Square - all of the routes do not continue down Washington St and the 34 bus alone does not have the ridership to justify continuing the bus lanes past Rozzy Sq - there...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: 2/28/18: Thank You TransitMatters for a Bold and Practical Vision This is awesome stuff and hope I live to see it implemented! Bravo! I am curious about some new (old) extensions I saw (Woburn, Danvers, etc) - as far as I know, the Woburn ROW is mostly gone though I could be wrong...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

I had no idea Chelsea annexed Boston. My guess is since they are likely going with battery powered buses (or some type of hybrid thing I can't find the name of at the moment) when the dual modes retire, they didn't bother.

    Silver Line to Chelsea

There is a free transfer from the Mattapan Trolley to the Red Line at Ashmont, I assume the same will be done at Airport. Would be nice if there was some way to have the Silver Line Airport stop in fare control...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Curious where you got this from - do you have a source, or is it just an assumption? You may have forgotten the 01800 Red Line cars which use automated stop announcements - they were built in 1994, at a time were GPS was still in development and used only by the military.

    Gov't Center Station Rebuild

Unless they are going to do a blitz during a weekend closing within the next month, seems like they aren't touching the walls \ signs on the tracks on both levels... Are they gonna at least clean them? jeez...

Re: Driven By.... Uhh... Hello? Anybody? Another example of splitting up a route that has small variations are 441 \ 442 \ 448 \ 449. If you want a adventure, ride a bus as packed as any key bus route, speeding down route 1A. Sad that the MBTA explicitly makes service shitty for certain...

Re: Driven By.... Uhh... Hello? Anybody? 116 \ 117 did run 12:30 - 3 prior to the cuts on Fridays and Saturdays. They should have the data, it's ("they") a late night route.

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

Excuse my misquote - public transit isn't inherently insolvent and is absolutely able to pay it's debts (unless it's in Massachusetts because we suck) - brainfart here

    Casey Overpass

I have NO sympathy whatsoever for people who are just finding this out. Further, I am willing to bet these are people who also think the bridge is fine and just needs a paint job. No bridge for you.

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

I did not expect this report to be so politically motivated \ partisan. There are things in there that are absolutely useful but at the end of the day I got nothing concrete about fixing the debt. I'm also troubled that these people don't know \ realize \ understand why transit, by nature, is...

The MBTA previously had 35ft buses. The last set were the RTS 8000 series , made in 1989 which were retired sometime around 2005.
