“Members of the Cedar Grove Civic Association gave their unanimous approval to a developer’s plan to convert an existing two-family house on Gallivan Blvd. into a 12-unit complex during a 55-minute meeting last Wednesday evening (April 24). The re-developed property at 608 Gallivan Blvd. across from St. Brendan’s Church will also include green space and 20 basement-level parking spots accessed from a curb cut and entry on Gallivan…”

Owners of three-family house on Meetinghouse Hill win permission to expand to nine units

Rendeirng of expanded High Street building

“The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved plans to expand a 3-family house on High Street in Dorchester to nine units, following a hearing that turned into a mini-debate about the future of Meetinghouse Hill and Dorchester's other residential hills - Jones, Popes and Savin.

The building's owners - Hongan, Inc., a group of investors from Canton and Dorchester - agreed to designate one of the units as affordable, with it going to a family making no more than 70% of the Boston-area median income, their attorney, Ryan Spitz, said.
Jim Milke of the Meetinghouse Hill Civic Association tore into the proposal, saying the Dot Block project and other projects at the bottom of or on Meetinghouse Hill are bringing hundreds of new apartments and condos to the area - and that, already, building owners are having trouble finding people to actually move into the new units.”

I have... Thoughts... About the flanking design of the addition. I get we're looking at a flat elevation and that it'll look different in 3 dimensions, but it looks like the original building is getting swallowed by a house monster.

I know there's no clear definitions of Boston neighborhoods, and the zipcode here probably says Dorchester, but damn this^ feels so squarely Roxbury to me.
When they did zip codes, Humboldt got Grove Hall, thus a Dorchester address but it was never part of Dorchester proper. This is Roxbury.

“The proposed development aims at developing the parcels located on all three parcels located on Geneva Ave. (241, 268 & 278 Geneva Avenue) and the one parcel on 1 MacNeil Way. The programming of these four parcels contemplates four different structures with a total of 20 units, all geared at providing quality opportunities for first-time home buyers and their families.”
