Rose Kennedy Greenway

There's 25,000,000 Sikhs in the world. There's 1,600,000,000 Muslims. I don't think there's any reason to feel bad.

Even in light of recent events, you wouldn't feel bad about not distinguishing a Sikh turban from Muslim headgear? You think that argument based on numbers would still hold up?

Regardless of interpretation, I find it troubling that people are forgiving ignorance and advocating censorship...

The goals of terrorists are not military victory.

They are to cause fear and nervous breakdowns of the adversary's population so that harmless things are ovrreatce to.

Mission Accomplished.

What? Go back and read the thread. Kent was saying pre-9/11 he might have associated a head wrap with Sikhs or Muslims. I never said I would. I just pointed out that if you're thinking about religions that utilize face/head wraps, it's natural to think of Muslims first because, well, there's almost 2 billion of them.

Actually I said characters from Alladin but I know what you meant.

A welcomed renovation on Hanover at the Greenway! Adding the top 3 floors back on to this "historical" building.

Are those... people?... on the GREENWAY?!... DURING THE WEEK?!?!

:)

The parcels closest to the path between the North End and Faneuil Hall get people, at least when it's warm out. If they didn't that would be really sad.

Haven't been to the Greenway too much, but had friends in town so went on Harbour tours...like Boston Light.. Awesome adventure.. But the Greenway was filling in with vegetation.. Lots of people enjoying the area. . New construction..
I remember posts about how 'non-green' it was when it first 'opened'. Plants take time to grow, people need time to get accustomed, business needs time to grow. I think it's looking awesome. Anything is better than what it was I first moved here!!! Give it time. Boston may be less than 'party central' lol, but it's much prettier/greener than my home town of New Orleans!!! Change is happening in a positive way, and that's a good thing ; )
Architecture is a whole different issue. New construction proposals need a boost. Think outside THE BOX!!!

The Greenway Sucks...... Anybody could make a space and plant some trees and flowers and say WOW this is really evolving into something beautiful.

Serioulsly this a Glorfied Median Strip.

state, city and Greenway Conservancy get a F for Failure.
And now they want an additional 8 Million a year.
Not even sure who is in charge of this disaster.

I can't believe I said in my last posts that the Greenway will evolve overtime. How much more time do they need. This is not even a park in my opinion, Its like a third Sidewalk in the middle of a strip.

Walking through Comm Ave park is more peaceful than the Greenway. EPIC FAILURE by Planners

Rifleman, you are pretty much angry about everything huh?

Who gives a shit about my anger issues? I'm talking about the Rose Kennedy Glofied Median Strip that the taxpayers just spent 24 Billion for.......and counting.

Can somebody please tell what the Greenway Conservancy has accomplished since 2008?
Besides, some trees & flowers
and a Mural that looks like a Simpson's character

I must say that the Greenway appeared to be a great success these past few weekends. This Sat and Sun I was down there and it was filled with people...amazing. Food trucks (which I wish would sell beyond 5pm), craft vendor tents, kids in the fountain, the new Armenian genocide memorial, even the N.End areas were busy with pedestrians and loungers (and that's with the St. Anthony feast crowd way on the other end of the N.End)(still waiting for the right vines to be planted on the trellisses, though) made the area vibrant. There is a continual reweaving of the adjacent areas with the greenway, as well as improvements to the building facades along the way. And Salem St! I counted at least 10 new restaurants/retail on the greenway end of the street. It's all making me hopeful that over time we'll get used to the area. Let's not forget that Comm. Ave's trees took decades to grow from the seedlings seen in old photos.

They had vines, but they died. They need to ask Friends of Christopher Columbus Park what they're doing over there, because their wisteria looks like it's on steroids or something.

Hey, I have an idea -- let's actually speak in precise terms. Instead of saying "The Greenway sucks!" or "The Greenway is a great success!", let's all just say what we probably all agree on: the parcels neighboring the North End and Chinatown work, and most of what's in between doesn't.

Seriously, none of you who praise the Greenway are ever talking about the bustling ramp parcels.
