I'm a little surprised they opted for the cantilever on the small parcel. Looks like they could have brought the tower downwards a few more floors.

The North tower is residential - it's likely that they couldn't find people who'd want an apartment or hotel room sandwiched at grade on either side by I-90 West and the Newbury onramp.
However, you would think it'd be a good location for expanded BOH like laundry or electrical, but perhaps designing access presented an issue.

I used to walk by here daily and I never realized how depressing this Boylston sidewalk is. 3 different color/kinds materials, countless cracks, extremely uneven,sinking etc. The city deserves better here.
