Thanks for these cool Charlestown angles! Not a common picture vantagepoint!

I think it will become more common soon enough. The whole new section of skyline, North Station through Bulfinch Crossing, really pops from there! Stairs were tough but at least it's over pretty quickly. They REALLY need to change out the windows at the top of the monument though. The views could be so much better.

It's amazing how much of an impact this has from the North of the city. I was an idiot and thought I had to work in Worcester today, when it's actually tomorrow that I have to be there. So I made it all the way to Concord before I realized my mistake. The beauty of this is that I got to drive back into Somerville via Route 2 and it's impressive the impact this has from that direction. Really stretches the skyline panorama out a bit. This thing is a chunk, but it'll have a big impact vertically too.

The way it will get glassier as it gets toward the crown is going to make it look a lot better as it wraps up compared to now and vs if this pattern continued right to the roof.

today unsure why I can’t post normal pictures every time I press full Image it tripled my pics and I have to start all over again 😩

All these great pics have given me new respect for the Kennedy Federal Building’s tower. Those subtly curved edges aged well; it just needs some TLC.

At least it seems to have a place -- not so for the Tip O'Neil --that should be sold to a developer [as the GSA sold the Volpe to MIT] with the developer putting up a mixed use with the Feds as tenants in the basement and podium and a tall residential tower [700 plus feet]

The way it will get glassier as it gets toward the crown is going to make it look a lot better as it wraps up compared to now and vs if this pattern continued right to the roof.
OHhh I have to take another look at the renders for this! Thats exciting that it transitions to more glass. That reminds me of one of my favorite recent supertalls in NYC, 35 Hudson Yards :

Obviously a stretch to compare, but similar concept in each. Hopefully it can help me like BulfinchX a little more...

Sadly, it won't be that elegant of a transition, but it will still need to a nice resolution, IMO (though I'd be interested to see what it looks like with no pattern change all the way up, if someone's good at photoshop here).

What appears to be the mechanical penthouse/maybe a residential unit+mech penthouse gets 3 uninterrupted levels of glass with the metal vertical mullions still present, and the residential penthouses/top 4 occupied floors gets double height windows with the vertical mullions.

From the first page:

Looking better with the notch more defined.

I like how in the wider image you can see that big East Boston “tower” that got rebuilt a few years ago.

This falls squarely into the "yawn,-but-it-could've-been-so-much-worse" development name category.

At least it's named after a street that's named after a town in MA that's named after a town in England. Instead of being named after some marketing VP's brain-fart of the day.
