This thread is dedicated to issues dealing with the recent changes to the forum.

I like the new look. The header with the hazy boston skyline looks really sexy too, but I think the reflected bit below it takes up an awful lot of the browser window. I would suggest cropping maybe 50 pixels off the bottom of the header image.

I agree. Consider it fixed.

The new look sucks. It's really hard to see the text and there's no quick reply or edit either. If you have vBulletin, at least use the features such as quick reply. So I would recommend you change the background to something a little bit lighter and/or darken the text. The forum pic is nice though. AND THERE'S NO ECONOMICS FORUM. WE REQUESTED IT A WHILE AGO AND NOTHING HAPPENED.

Haha, don't get too angry, briv runs this board for us. Thanks so much, I like the changes a lot. Very modern and 'sexy.'

We can never thank you enough for the amount of time you have put into this.

I love the site and appreciate you guys running it, but I have to say I'm not a big fan of light text on a dark background, it's very hard for me to read.

Anyway..

Thanks again briv.

The more time I spend with the new format the less I'm sure about the white on black. Could that possibly be skinable, so people can chose their own look? You are right about the photos looking awesome against the black, but the text can be kind of tough. I can live with it though.
Also can you make the advanced editing functions on by default? I think people might get triped up on that. It took me awhile to figure it out.
Other than that I think it looks/works great. Nice job. :)

I'm torn on the white on black ... it's great for pictures but I'm finding it really tough on the eyes for reading. Other than that I like everything I've seen so far. Thanks for putting the time in, Briv. I'm sure it's not easy.

edit - deleting part of this post because I just read your New Forum announcement thread.

Thanks for adding quick reply. Why does it make you click on another post before it lets you reply? SSC doesn't make you do that. And thanks for having this forum briv, I'm not trying to be disruptive or anything, just saying my opinion on it. Can you please add the economics forum though? Many threads about buildings turn into discussions of economics and I think many people on this forum will appreciate if we have a dedicated space to discuss it, instead of having the discussion deleted or moved to somewhere no one knows.

Ive been getting a lot of complaints about the dark background and light text. I may have to rethink the forum's theme. In the meantime, Ive added the default VBulletin style to the selectable styles.

Also, the quick reply should be working correctly now.

I just switched over to the vbulletin default. Is there any way to get rid of those little black paper icons on the main forum page and next to all of the posts?

What order are the threads in by default? It doesn't seem to be "most recently posted to first", which is what it used to be.

ron - just click "last post" at the top of the thread list and the threads will rearrange by the last new post added, as you're used to.

also, briv - I switched over to default, which is a bit easier on the eyes, but it would be nice to have an option for dark text on a light background that matches the forum color scheme in general. possible?

one more thing - we're all site admins?

czsz, yeah, I'm going to have to come up with a lighter color scheme. Too many people have problems with the current one.

Also, VBulletin has about 20 times the options of the last forum's software and I'm still figuring out how to do what. Ron, I think I fixed the default thread order. Now I'm trying to figure out why everyone is listed as a site admin.

The header is just awesome. Very nice looking indeed! I like the theme too! Thanks!!!

I've disabled the new dark theme and instead enabled the default VBulletin style. The dark style just caused way too many complaints.

There will be a new look for the board, but, as of now, its' back on the drawing board.

Oh yeah, and why does it say for the post date "10-28-2007, 10:32 PM" instead of Yesterday, 10:32 PM like all other vBulletin forums? If you know the reason, can you fix it?

I cant tell which pages have new threads
