Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

That right by the office I work in. It is on Park Place across the street from the new Four Seasons Hotel and Residences in Downtown NYC.

    MBTA Construction Projects

That is disappointing their are some tweaks that could be made that would reduce conflicts and allow the T to increase the number of trains per hour the station can handle. Currently because of the track design there is a point where the 9 approach tracks to the station pinch down to only 6...

    MBTA Construction Projects

Will this include any changes to the track and switch arrangement or is this just a track refresh and update to electronics?

New Red and Orange Line Cars

On a more general note I think it would be good if Boston for the next order switched from married pairs to either 3 or 6 car consists that have an open gangway design. Ideally they would upgrade maintenance facilities to be able to handle a full length six car open gangway design but at minimum...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

For some perspective from non-MBTA experiences the R32s in NYC were supposed to be fully retired in 2017 and ended up running in service until the end of 2021 because issues with the R179 car order. The R179 order had many issues including a prototype with such large design flaws the whole order...

    Green Line Type 10 Procurement

That rendering is a prototype and the final design will likely have some modifications made, but it will likely look significantly similar to that. They will likely be using the existing CAF Urbos 3 vehicle design and modifying it to meet the MBTA's needs. Luxembourg Tram Urbos 3 Freiburg...

I believe it was completed but that the new speeds won't happen until the new trains are in use.

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Well there are only two continuous lanes between the interchange with I-93 and the airport so my impulse would be to reduce the Pike to 6 lanes to provide a little additional capacity until I-90 meets I-93. Also the current configuration drops to 6 lanes past the Copley Interchange already so...

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

I mean NYC absolutely has encountered some similar levels of complexity over the years. Some examples would be Hudson Yards, the new JP Morgan Chase building (270 Park Ave) that involves tearing down an older 700 foot tall skyscraper and then building a new 1300-1400 foot tower in the same...

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

The garage next to the building isn't being raised that is why they started the core already. The only part of the garage being fully demolished is the section above Congress St. and the on the far side of Congress St. from the State Street Building and Sudbury. The part of the garage surrounded...

    North Washington St Bridge

Chicago would have had to totally rebuild it's downtown system unlike NYC and Boston where the els could either be removed and not replaced or removed and more easily replaced with subway or surface level lines. I don't know about maintenance though and that may have been a factor too.

    Green Line Reconfiguration

I think part of the issue with stop spacing on the B line is that it is very inconsistent. Some stops are as close as the closest space stops on the other lines and they are concentrated in areas with large numbers of riders which would slow the line down more. Personally I would like to see...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

What if the Savin Hill Junction were a flying junction? Would that solve the issue. Most of the line is already running the two services on two tracks so I would think it would be doable if the Savin Hill Junction were not a flat junction.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

So what do you want to cut for service or maintenance for other services the T runs to be able to run the acelas? It's a fun thought experiment to imagine some type of EMU or electric train in service I get that, but what does imagining this with the Acelas do. I can understand looking at that...

    Worst Infrastructure Proposal Nominations

The street plan for the Beacon Yards redevelopment because of unnecessarily wide streets, poor street placement, and large blocks. (This was inspired by F-Lines recent posts on the plan)
