I actually prefer the new one. If executed well it looks more architecturally coherent. And I also like preserving a uniform heightwall unless there's real rationale for breaking it - e.g., a stunning building that makes sense to go higher ... which the original rendering of this building is not.

Agree - they could easily have incorporated the historic buildings into a Camden Yards-like complex. Which, if they used the industrial buildings for any mix of retail, hotel, residential and/or office, would also have the effect of making this a much more mixed-use, all-season venue - and less...

This feels pretty good to me. I think 'street grid, small lots' is the best possible answer to essentially any urban planning question there is ... but unfortunately it's clear nobody in the BPA or BPDA or whatever it's calling itself under this administration has the smallest care in the world...

Haven't been to Doha, but if it's new and sleek it probably has the edge. Dubai's isn't all that great tbh. The nicest thing is the huge Emirates Lounge that takes up the entire top floor of the main terminal (not sure if it's only for business class travelers - it may be). Other than that...

Honestly think the height reduction is good for its location. Current plan looks like better architecture than the original.
