    BCEC expansion | Seaport

The Seaport needs small block granular development, no more of the soulless superblock, Omni Hotel style projects. It's totally anti urban and anti pedestrian. More residential condos and ground floor retail.

"The Garage" | 36 JFK Street | Harvard Square | Cambridge

Oh man, Chumbolly...that's my favorite comment of the year.

Dorchester Bay City (nee Bayside Expo Ctr.) | Columbia Point

How long before harbor point gets the Bunker hill treatment? I could see that doubling or tripling in size.

Marketplace Center | Quincy Market | Downtown

After WHOOPS, that brick work terrifies me...but perhaps it will be of better quality. All in all I don't love the pedestrian level experience, though it's obviously much better on the Greenway side than it is now.

    The New Retail Thread

I really can't get over how badly the BPDA botched the decision to master lease Quincy Market to the Ashkenazi team...they could not possibly be less imaginative. They have done nothing to truly invest and make it an interesting and dynamic place. What a shame. Margaritaville... It doesn't get...

Ginkgo Bioworks | 1-3 Anchor Way | Seaport

Have we discussed why Massport and the city have not buried the utility lines underground? It's embarrassing. When you have the telephone poles sagging in front of brand new lab buildings, it just looks lousy. Anyone know if there are plans for this?

East Boston Infill and Small Developments

That's pretty sweet...John McGrail formerly of Mayo Group and now MG2 bought up a ton of land in Eastie. This looks amazing.

    11-21 Bromfield Street | DTX | Downtown

The enemy here is the zoning code and the neighboring property owners in the jewelers building and 45 province...well heeled neighbors had veto rights due to the threat of lawsuits

The Parker Boston (nee LaGrange Tower) | 47-55 LaGrange St. | Downtown

Landmarked? One or two of them are okay....the others are just urban filler. The building on the corner is as unremarkable as they come. I will grant you that having a variegated street wall rather than a bland box is preferable.

    Belmont Developments

Yeesh...so much wrong here....the windows are so bloody small. All the proportions are off. And of course, the brick looks paper thin.

    The New Retail Thread

I totally agree with everything being said...The aesthetic of hub hall is unappealing in person. It's not terrible, but it doesn't have much soul and the lighting is off. Time Out is a grand and interesting space, but the corporatized signage hurts the overall chemistry of the place in the same...

Bay Village Apartment Tower | 212 Stuart St. | Bay Village

I tend to think the offset windows are a mistake here as they interrupt the vertical fluting pattern. Maintaining a consistent line would have given the building a more elegant feeling and emphasized height rather than the girth of the building.

409 Huntington Ave | The Fenway

Someone at the BPDA inadvertently put an image of the proposal out there...I saw this earlier this week. I was looking around the BPDA site for news of a project announcement and this is clearly it.

    Residential / Executive Suites | 601 Newbury St | Fenway / Kenmore

I don't understand how this stuff gets through the BPDA...I've gone through the process and I can't imagine how this kind of thing happens. It's the ugliest wedding cake I've seen in decades.

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

wow I really like that webster project...very high quality materials and design
