    Dedham Developments

It's 100% West Roxbury. The Dedham section of the ROW was already obliterated by other single family construction projects. :(

Boston University - Warren Towers Renovation | 700 Commonwealth Avenue | Fenway

Perhaps not. Personally, I think the faux colossal order works pretty well in this particular application, but I do think adding some contrasting color to the ribbing is the more important enhancement. In general, BU has done a pretty good job on renovating its brutalist collection, usually by...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

Well, that's not the part of Columbus with the center running lanes, though they are coming to that section, too. The initial build was between Jackson Square and Seaver St., which is to say a part of Columbus that is perpendicular to the Southwest Corridor Park. It's not an area that is...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

You are correct, there were never bike lanes there. However, I would definitely argue that the current arrangement is less bike friendly than before, because there really is no option but to take the lane if you bike that stretch, and many are not comfortable doing so. The plan is to establish...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

This is probably an underrated concept, and indeed a strength of LRT subways. The question is probably more connected to how many people might be boarding each of those trains at 1500 feet vs the other distances, and whether the trains can handle the larger numbers associated with fewer doors...

Hurley Building Redevelopment | 19 Staniford St | West End

This is essentially my position, too. If it becomes more pedestrian accessible, particularly for passing through, rather than having to walk around the block, then it's a vast improvement, regardless of the tower architecture. The super block is a big problem, but we aren't likely going to be...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

The E-Line in Los Angeles has some of these, and they work pretty well from what I've seen. Pictured is the crossing between USC and Exposition Park, which has a ton of pedestrian activity, particularly during Saturdays in the Fall. I believe the bollards are retractable, to accommodate things...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

Here's another claim in the article that seems suspect: It is my understanding that SC Rail won't add any significant traffic to the terminal district, because it is just an extension of existing trains to more outlying destinations. Shouldn't the total number of tracks/platforms used at South...

But it's also 100% not "soaring."

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Yes, I agree with the point regarding aesthetics, just not that it changes the overall block dynamics.

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

I'm not sure what you mean by the term super block in this instance. The developer didn't change the size of the block, nor the building footprint. Yes, it's a condolidation of what had been multiple buildings, but the overall geography remains the same.

I hadn't noticed the Bexley Rd/Washington St corner project starting. And that Belgrade Ave building is going up quickly -- good to see!

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

It was my understanding that the elevated F-Line branch idea was cancelled due to overwhelming structural deficiencies on the elevated structure. But given the era, that could certainly have just been cover for your more cynical explanation.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

@Teban54 already addressed this, but I'll add my personal experience as somebody who occasionally bike commutes through the area, and then Beecham St. to the Chelsea Creek drawbridge. I have never seen the Alford St bridge open to river traffic during commute hours (as noted earlier). But the...

    North Washington St Bridge

You are missing the point, which is to disagree with anything that is actual, in favor of whatever other option might have been out there at some point in time. The deceptive use of a several months old picture should tell us all we need to know.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Yes, it's an extension. The completed project will result in an SL3 that runs from South Station to Sullivan Square via Seaport, East Boston, Chelsea, and Everett. 💯 But it's not clear to me what is meant by dedicated busway. It's a bit vague, but hopefully is at least a stronger segregation...

That map also shows that there are two Orange Line stations within that 20 minute walking catchment. I suspect people will be able to get there.

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

If it took an hour, that's 33% longer than the time table indicates. I guess the question is whether it is consistently slower than scheduled, or whether you encountered some bad luck. As for that Downeaster flying by, it will definitely go faster, because the only stop it is making is at...

    Biking in Boston

You are railing against an identified inadequacy but specifically saying you won't do anything about it. I appreciate that there will be bike lanes in a circumstance we all acknowledge as less than perfect. We can leave for others to determine what is childish, but I'm done with this pointless...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

@ritchiew, yes, I agree with that. Ideally, the repairs happen quickly enough so that any slow down is too brief to be noticed or remarked upon other than in a regular end of month maintenance report.
