    Boston Nightlife

Anyone else feel like it's severely lacking? I picked a random Tuesday night to go to NYC and saw Grouplove at Webster Hall in what was the best single show I had ever seen. I sit here on my laptop, and search and search for concerts in Boston, but the lineups at HOB, MidEast, Paradise, etc...

    Urban Mountain Biking in Seattle

This is so damn cool. Where in Boston could something like this be implemented? A unregulated zone where bikers could takeover and make their own playground? Colonnade Park, Seattle

    Harvard Stadium - Response Paper

Just another paper I had to write for school. I used Harvard Stadium as my example for a building I had a strong emotional response to, so it's somewhat relevant to Boston architecture. Thought I'd just throw it up in the General section in case anyone wanted to read it.

    Lets talk about Music

With all due respect to the record stores and hipsters alike, iTunes is a hell of a lot easier and had a much wider selection than any record store I've ever seen.

    St. Louis Photography

I'd like to share with everyone the photos I take while going about St. Louis and the rest of Missouri. At least, while development is slow in Boston. These first few to start are from last Friday, when I visited the St. Louis Hindu Temple and the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington...

    The Smarter City - IBM

You've probably seen the commercials on TV, and now IBM has an entire flash website dedicated to their city systems. Essentially, they propose networking all the civic functions of a city together to make them run more efficiently. While I have no hope of any of this incredibly realistic...

    Playing Tour Guide

I'm taking a trip to Boston with a school group this weekend. We're staying at the Park Plaza, and I'm looking to suggest some places for dinner and lunch that aren't chains that can be had in St. Louis. We're likely to check out Legal Sea Foods, but I was trying to think of some places within...

Help: Need articles about suburban culture.

I'm looking for articles published in some sort of reputable source describing the disillusion of the suburbs. Something focusing on how suburbs, while attempting to give everyone a little bit of nature, actually destroyed it. And even better, would be one focusing on how suburbs have helped...

Office Parks are Worse than Suburban Sprawl

Tidbit from Good Article from Planetizen Rather underwhelming and underdeveloped idea. An office park on a grid is no better than an office park in faux-naturalism setting with miles of driveways. And most of them do have sidewalks - on the edges of parking lots.

San Francisco's Answer to the Westboro Baptist Church

You've got to read this blog post. And watch the video it's linked to. It's awesome, this is definitely how every protest should be handled from now on. http://laughingsquid.com/san-franciscos-answer-to-westboro-baptist-church/

    Chuck

Gotta love this show. I do, anyhow. It's so goofy and whimsical, it doesn't become too serious for television (see CSI, 24, or NCIS). Yet, it has enough cool action scenes, nearly believable plot twists, and beautiful women to be an awesome break from the nightly melodramas. Speaking of...

    Architizer: Buildings, Meet Social Media

You have to check this article out on the actual website to do it justice, because of the pictures that I'm too lazy to download, then host, then post. So here's the link: Architizer: Buildings, Meet Social Media

    What is a city?

I found myself in an argument today, about cities and suburbs. My point was that cities are healthier for people to live in, and in an ideal world, civilization would exist in metropolitan centers, and gradually shrink to rural areas through a sequence of ever-smaller cities (not suburbs). Of...

With Road Trains, Highways Become Public Transportation

Interesting, sounds simple. But how can safety be ensured? How can older cars be retrofitted? How are standards put in place? Plenty of questions that still need to be answered before they're put in place on any American highway.

    The Great Books Thread

This thread is for everyone to post the best books they've read, books they're reading, or books they'd like to read, mostly pertaining to architecture and urbanism. I don't believe a thread like this exists so far, and I'm fairly certain at least some of the posters enjoy reading, and enjoy...

Do you know this lot? Farnsworth & Congress.

It's a parking lot on the corner of Congress and Farnsworth St. in Fort Point. Right across from the Fire Department Museum close to FP3, adjacent to the Fort Point Artists Community Gallery. Google Maps Thanks.
