Interviewer: "So, what inspired this design?"
Architect: "Well, I was begging for change in front of a Holiday Inn Express and this woman walking by was wearing turquoise jewelry so, ya know..."

Miami coloration is a nice touch in New England. More of it please.

Though I respectfully disagree, I would be amenable to an 'exchange program' in which Boston sends some of its clunky 'Boston Boxes' to Miami. Hell, I'd be ok with a neon-pink high-rise in the shape of a flamingo if it meant getting better proportioned buildings downtown.

The building is the architectural equivalent of a mullet: Interesting at street level. Tacky up top.

I would love to have seen more deco or streamline moderne buildings in Boston, but today we would just get tacky retro approximations.

The Tobin School will be the next one to get the full rebuild treatment, starting next summer.

Walking by 10 Essex yesterday, I realized that it’s a transplanted Silly Valley econobox.
