Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Spirit Airlines continues to expand their Boston network. They just announced new non-stop destinations.

Kansas City - MCI daily flights begin July 10
Detroit - DTW daily flights begin June 5
Columbus - CMH daily flights begin June 5
Chicago - ORD daily flights begin June 5
Pittsburgh - PIT daily flights begin June 5

If I am reading things correctly, they will have non-stop service to:

Kansas City
Detroit
Columbus
Chicago
Pittsburgh
Atlanta
Baltimore/Washington
Charleston
Charlotte
Dallas/Ft. Worth
Fort Lauderdale
Houston - Intercontinental
Nashville
Newark
Norfolk
Myrtle Beach
Orlando
San Juan

They started and then cut Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Spirit has added service on three routes that JetBlue ended - Newark, Baltimore/Washington and Kansas City.
They have quietly cut a few Florida flights.

Almost like they're trying to avoid competing directly with JetBlue even with the blocked merger.

It's in the B-C connector. That's a JetBlue flight number so I'm guessing it has Terminal C listed there because that's where JetBlue check-in would be. If it just said Gate B40, people might inadvertently go to Terminal B, and not be able to check in and check baggage. So it actually does make sense, just in a way that looks like an error.
Maybe they need to do what they did with the old Terminal D area and double number the gates to avoid this kind of confusion.

I am wondering if the cuts of Tampa and Fort Myers are seasonally and we'll see them return come November?

Yup, and the numbering of the gates in that connector makes no sense.

It makes sense in a twisted way that screams "Massport didn't want to re-number a million gates". The B-numbered gates are just sequential, and crossing from B into C it goes C23, C24, C25, with the higher numbers out on the pier.

Terminal C's numbering overall is very nonsensical, possibly having to do with the two piers being separate at one time and somewhat self-contained. But they very clearly shoehorned the C gate numbers in so that they would kinda fit without them needing a huge sign replacement by renumbering all the other gates to actually make logical sense the way they do in B.

Airside at Terminals C & E is looking a lot more colorful! Taken from my JAL flight yesterday evening.

JetBlue swapped the Embraer 190 planes with 100 seats to A320s with 162 seats last year, so that may have something to do with the increased capacity at OHR.

Have a good time in Tokyo! I'll be flying that route later this year!!
Pic was from the return flight—Japan (and JAL) was amazing—peak cherry blossom season! Loads of photos uploaded to my instagram @bocastonian if anyone’s interested.

Also, one more bonus shot from before we left. We won a bid upgrade for JAL business class to Tokyo and got complimentary access to Logan’s British Airways lounge. Had a nice perspective of the smooth new roof at E.
