Parcel JK | Cambridge Crossing | Cambridge

Re: Parcel JK | NorthPoint | Cambridge

Wow, these guys aren't playing games. This thing is moving. I kind of like the fake wood looking brown panels. At least it is not the white Styrofoam stuff on so many new buildings in town.

White styrofoam? Pictures?

There are a lot of new buildings in Beantown with white cladding that looks like styrofoam to me. Ex. Avalon Nashua Street, Waterside place, etc.

Precast concrete looks like styrofoam? I am not a fan of white precast myself but I guess I was confused what looks like foam.

Re: Parcel JK | NorthPoint | Cambridge

Lot JK progress is continuous...Looking down on the core makes it look fairly short but it is rising from a base of three levels of parking to two stories above grade so far.

...and for some reason it's lit up at night like a wedding cake...

I wanted to get an update posted before the second tower crane is installed next week (so they tell us)!

nice photo, ivyhedge

are the seemingly hollow concrete blocks in the bottom right for running utilities?

are you aware of any other developments in cambridge crossing that are imminent?

It's my understanding E/F, I, H, & G are all fully in design right now. Obviously no tenants announced. Sounds as if some are moving much faster recently. Activity is picking up. The retail pavilion as well.

Once Phillips was announced I expected the dominoes to start falling, and I think that is what we will see shortly.

I don't know any potential names, but some things sound promising.

Building I hasn't had a formal design document filed, but it's prominent in the full-site renderings. Buildings Q and W (smaller, retail focused) have also filed design documents. Separate design documents have been filed for all open spaces (the Common, "Murphy Stairs", "Baldwin Park", and EFG.

You have to follow this on both the Cambridge and Somerville planning board sites to see the whole thing, since filings happen in different communities at different times. Most of the project is in Cambridge, but small sections are in Somerville.

Re: Parcel JK | NorthPoint | Cambridge

Thanks so much for all of the great information. After 10 years I cannot believe that this is finally going to happen. It looks like DivcoWest was the right developer at the right time. They seem to have a much clearer picture of what they want to do with the property than previous developers.

Re: Parcel JK | NorthPoint | Cambridge

Launch pad 39B will accompany the existing pad at 39A ... whoops!

The second tower crane is under construction. It's a little late, but should be finished by Friday, if we are able to use the first crane as a temporal guide.

Note, as well, that the core is moving along, as is completion of the inner tub foundation.

@Golden - apologies for the late replies ... Yes, those are wastewater cisterns. Parcel W will be next on the list (was approved in the fall), since there is no retail on site. And while a number of the lots (I, EF, G, and H) I've discussed in the past either have final designs pending approval or are nearly there, Lot U is looking increasingly more likely as "sooner rather than later" build (at least, compared to I and EF) based on a recent conversation with DW (note: not firm - just more likely than Phase II).

This is JK as of 6 Feb 2018:
