Save The CITGO sign!

The sign is really more pop art than advertising at this point. I was firmly in the "keep" camp and am glad it is staying. Yeah, I don't like the fact that it represents an oil company, but it is marvelous piece of public art that adds some vibrancy to the skyline.
 
Have to agree. The sign is basically intertwined with Boston in my mind and in the minds of many at this point. I'm glad it's staying.

I for one fully embrace the irony of how beloved this oil company ad is in our hippy-dippy city.
 
At least Boston will still have plenty of material for being the butt of jokes ...

Sources confirmed that while they think its adorable watching Boston residents excitedly attend their little music shows at the Paradise Rock Club and express their devotion to city-wide landmarks like an old oil company sign that lights up at night, their favorite part of Big City is when Bostonians wear their undying allegiance to the fake metropolis on their collective sleeve.
