South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Odd response for a moderator.

Only if you insist AB's moderators be paragons of virtue, decency, integrity, blah blah blah blah. I found Van's reply to be quite funny; it's definitely a one-liner I would've liked to have conjured up. I guess Van and I suffer from similarly perverse mentalities...

BPDA extension to April 30 2020 on agenda for Thursday...

This is so damn sad it's almost funny! 20 years ago, or so, Hynes filed a proposal to build a tower over South Station! And 20 years later, another extension is granted to Hynes.

I copied/pasted the following from the first page of this thread.

Hines Interests LP and TUDC LLC have filed final impact reports with the state and city for the 1.8 million-square-foot mixed-use project proposed at South Station Transportation Center.

The development partners filed an environmental impact report with the state and the final project impact report with the Boston Redevelopment Authority. The final reports respond to issues raised by the state and city in permits filed in 2000 and 2002.

I remember when I first stumbled upon this project on skyscraperpage.com in 2001. I was a sophomore in high school. I'm in my 30's, married, with a child and this project is still no closer to becoming a reality.

Also news: the BPDA board memo calls for adding the Dutch pension fund (huh) as a partner in the project.

What is going on with this project. There seems to be a lot of assumptions but yet no real change in whats going on with the status of this development.

The Globe refuses to report on it until they see Walsh and friends with shovels.
Good on them.

I was going to add that there were even earlier ones proposed by I didn’t have the info to back it up , thanks!

As disheartening as the extension might be on the surface, I would take this as the most positive sign yet that construction is imminent. Pension fund involvement usually means the project has a financier.

Disable JavaScript in your browser and you can read it. The gist is previous Chinese investor is out and two newinvestors are in. Asking for extension until Dec 31. Construction is not imminent.

How are they having a hard time finding an investor... this is like the most perfect of perfect locations to be in/at by 2022.

^^i was gonna inquire of you all the other day: 'is there a possibility the Chinese investors will have to pull out?'
It appears exactly that happened.
And what dumb luck timing of it--as the bureaucracy finally played out the string.
