The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I basically think of it as a new, residential version of 60 State Street. I have the 2 towers essentially on par with one another, and I love 60 State! For those of you who don't know it off the top of your head, I'm saying I think the Sudbury is about on par with this: IMG_8978 by David Z...

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I love the Sudbury. I think you're confusing me with KZ here. We both have the Z's going on.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

The reason the residential is worse is because it was essentially pre-approved to go 650', which would have become the key attention-getter AND removed the overall blob effect. Even if we ended up with the same office design we are getting, a 650' would have easily drawn the eye away from it...

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

They really screwed the pooch on the residential. In particular, the lack of height differentiation between not only these 2, but also Avalon and soon to be Alcott, make the whole area look like a blob from most angles. That's why the State Street tower is now so important. It's going to be...

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

I was under the impression that only residential and infrastructure was currently allowed, so I do have some confusion about this. However, from a skyline perspective this is the single most important building we'll get in the next 5+ years, so build baby build!

The Sudbury (Bulfinch Crossing Residential Tower) | 50 Sudbury St | GCG Phase I | Gov't Center

You might be thinking about the Garden of Peace, a permanent memorial up the road. https://www.google.com/maps/@42.3599739,-71.0615147,3a,90y,309.98h,97.63t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sVosftSV_d6iCNzkeANFQXg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 https://gardenofpeacememorial.org/

Chasing the Peak - Fall Foliage in the Northeast

It turns out I'm not just obsessed with buildings, but also with foliage! Here's a smattering of shots from the Northeast last October. I'll stick to only showing New England here but the full album includes the Adirondacks and Lake Placid area in early October, as well as the Catskills in...

    COVID-19 in Boston

Why do they call it "medical marijuana" and are these "serious health problems" even close to being on par with most pharmaceutical prescriptions? It's not a joke. Maybe it helps and maybe it doesn't, but nobody dies just from smoking marijuana. The same can't be said about hydroxychloroquine...

    COVID-19 in Boston

According to this article in the LA Times, Georgia misrepresented their data so "pretty good" might be a misnomer. https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2020-05-18/georgia-coronavirus-numbers-reopening-manipulated-data-brian-kemp Actually, a researcher in Alberta has discovered that marijuana...

Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Keep in mind this is a 2 building complex and there is a bakery/sandwich shop in the first phase. When you need to accommodate both residential and hotel on a very small footprint, a lot of that space will be chewed up by the lobby. That's just the way it is. I walked by the old park a few...

    COVID-19 in Boston

Just used him because he's rich and outspoken. The same could be said of any rich person, like Warren Buffet, or a random CEO, or a famous actor, or every politician, etc etc etc. If you are going to lose your business, lose your life savings, lose the roof over your head, then you could say...

    COVID-19 in Boston

A key sentence in that article: Projects that don’t meet the state’s definition of essential — such as office buildings or hotels, for now — will not be able to go forward until the state eases its restrictions, Brophy wrote. So it sounds like things like the 691' Winthrop Square Tower, 485'...

Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Due to its out of the way location, probably 99% of people who see this tower will never see its base. With a building this tall and this visible, I would put the tower's aesthetics well above whether it has a diner or 1st floor windows. This is now the city's 3rd most visible building, and...

    How does Boston's urbanism compare?

[Mod note: The following convo was copied over from here, the 1 Dalton Four Seasons Tower thread.] Due to its out of the way location, probably 99% of people who see this tower will never see its base. With a building this tall and this visible, I would put the tower's aesthetics well above...
