    USPS Complex | Fort Point

I think even aspirational renderings that simply illustrate how a space could be used would go a long way toward building support for additional development.

Bartlett Yards | 2505-2565 Washington Street | Roxbury

With the road conditions, utility poles, and backward parking layout, this looks like a scene from a third-world country.

South End Infill and Small Developments

The city did this with the public library when I lived in Brooklyn Heights. The library was rebuilt to modern standards, beautiful stone murals on the previous exterior were preserved and re-purposed, and new street-level retail was aded to a relatively bleak stretch of Cadman Plaza. IIRC, the...

    Brookline Infill and Small Developments

It’s strange that the developer proposes a (seemingly needless) mid-block connection to River Road, as opposed to making a coherent street wall.

Open Space | Turnpike Parcel 21 | Chinatown

It's strange the City's materials bill this as "Reconnecting Chinatown" when much of the historic built environment in this area predates Chinese arrival.

    Brookline Infill and Small Developments

I may be in the minority, but I strongly believe age-restricted housing developments should be illegal. It’s another example of the aged electorate—who bear responsible for the current housing crisis—pulling up the ladder of opportunity behind them.

1270 Commonwealth Avenue (Old CVS Site) | Allston

Agreed. Continuing the metal-accented articulation to the corner strikes me as a much more harmonious design. Shifting the entrance away from the corner also seems like a positive.

I completely disagree. It strikes me that the left has placed too much emphasis on redistribution, and too little emphasis on policies that make it difficulty to address supply constraints. Case in point, in the Klein article I linked to earlier, you'll find the following just a paragraph down...

    Brookline Infill and Small Developments

The numbers are astonishing. From a recent Ezra Klein article: I'm certain the Boston metro area is comparable to California. I think Klein makes a compelling case for onerous process, particularly community input. I would say in Massachusetts it is, amongst other things, the law granting a...

The architectural style of Morris Adjmi fits perfectly with the Fenway area.

Jamaica Plain Infill and Small Developments

If the specific buildings lining the park are attractive they complement the experience of a metropolitan park (e.g. the El Dorado along Central Park West, Manhattan).

The Dorsey (Née The Smith) | 575 Albany | South End

The re-zoning of Gowanus in New York is a perfect example of this. See the number of mid-to-high rise apartments proposed, approved and now under construction in what were 1-story post-industrial lots along the canal just in the last 4-5 years is astonishing (below). It's particularly...

Alexandra Hotel Renovation | 1769 Washington St | Roxbury

This is an important point. I think financing for subterranean parking, where appropriate, for commercial/residential developments in/near business districts should be approached a similar manner. However, instead of the anticipated public benefit from hotel room tax revenues, localities can...

    Population & Economic Growth

Does anyone know if there has been an effort to quantify the number of potential housing units lost to Boston as well as the broader metro-area due to reductions in the size of proposals sent to planing authorities? For example, the net loss of 50 potential units, when a proposal is cut from...
