    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Fun fact: those three stepped cowlings atop Zinc are very well illuminated: in any color. They blazed for the first week the building was open nearly a decade ago. Then, some Glassworks Condos folks complained (police calls) and ... they haven't illuminated since. (Apologies for replying to...

The preparation was for mid term stasis. They did it twice in 2023. I spoke with DivCo: there is no plan yet for LM, which could serve as the site's signature property (its status has flipped to "open" from commercial).

Yes: look back through my old postings, please. I used to post images, commentary, and some engineering background since I (fairly regularly) speak with folks at DivCo (and I have lived here for nearly a decade). But after years of negative comments I stopped. I understand that we're not...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

The amenities are are a level below Dalton's (still very nice), and roughly comparable units are less costly (at least, the ones I considered). Ultimately, I wasn't won over by Dalton because of 1) lower value (for me) and 2) location: I have no connexion to its area. Winthrop's units are quite...

SAV-MOR Site Lab Building | 15 McGrath Highway | Somerville

It's a travesty that the awning over the old pet store is still standing! Ugh.

It was. For anyone interested in reading my posts about heights and discussions with DivCo, my commentary is searchable in the thread. In short, buildings step higher toward the train yards. Yes: there is a City height limit, even at the tracks. It is (publicly) unknown if DivCo sought to...

Sorry, I'm a bit late noting that Starbucks opened last week (and soft opened the prior week) in Sanofi's south building (Lot H). It follows the business hours of some 'bucks in the Financial District and is closed on weekends (for now).

MXD Residential Tower | 121 Broadway | Kendall Square

Great reference, RW. There are only a few of us who remember the *nightmare* that was. My, for a few nights that crown show was really something (and it was before most of CX had anything on it, so it was a true solo performance)!

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

A lift to the bridge was part of the early design. DivCo selected internal placement, coupled with greater exposure to the Gilmore Bridge and internal amenities like the new Starbucks, than place them outside. Previously, the cab was installed nearer the bridge and was offline > 50% of the time...

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

As I have noted many times in this thread, DivCo gave up on height when (after several attempts to break the triple shelf barrier restriction with the City of Cambridge) their requests were denied. TBH, I think a lot of folks in the City's management thought they could punt the site decision...

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

BNY Mellon is the largest global custodian (and has been for eight years), with $46.7 trillion AUC. SST, while AUC has declined a bit of late, nevertheless remains a solid second, trailing by $3.0 trillion... :) I agree that a Clipper Ship would have been gorgeous on that glass.

Feels right, @Equilibria. It reminds me of a spot where friends live in München (or one of the revitalized neighborhoods in Stuttgart).

It is also a treasure trove of anachronistic, though patchwork complementary, renovations. Among smaller firms, there are nods to the Bauhaus movement, while other groups highlighted hyper contemporary and classically "Don Draper" MCM. I have only seen a few nods to international modernism...
