The State Transportation Office sent me a response stating the Blue Line project is not canceled even though they are aware MPO took it off their list last week, along with copies of press releases from July that I had already read...back in July. Not sure what to make of this..and everyone on...

I've also found a group looking to re-open a closed East Lynn Commuter Rail stop between Central Square and Swampscott. Apparently, it's all pretty much still intact and there wouldn't be much work involved (relatively speaking).

Ron, To be more specific, I've been told directly by a non-professional source that a condo building comes way too close to make it viable anymore. But, it's something I'd like verified.

The article says that a primary reason for dropping the Blue Line extension is encroachment on the right of way. It is my understanding that the major culprits are in Revere. I made an attempt to contact Boston MPO to find out what specific other reasons, if any, played a role in the decision...
