New Red and Orange Line Cars

Is there a difference in the number of people operating a four-car trainset versus a six-car?

New Red and Orange Line Cars

I happend to walk by Cabot Yard this morning around 9 AM and spotted 17 or 18 new Red Line cars parked. They were spread across several tracks and not origanized into trainsets as far as I could tell. I had someplace to be so didn't have time for photos or to look for car numbers. Later, I also...

Red Line Extension to Arlington Heights

"The Massachusetts Legislature has passed a bill that repeals a law set in place in 1976 that prohibited the construction of an MBTA station within 75 yards of Arlington Catholic High School, which killed plans that would have extended the MBTA’s Red Line from Alewife to Lexington at Route 128."...

Red Line Extension to Arlington Heights

An advocacy group for extending the Red Line to Arlington and beyond, "Extend the Red Line," has been formed in Arlington and is holding its first meeting this week. I haven't heard of such an effort in the last decade or so, so I figured it was worth mentioning. Mods, I'm unfamiliar with the...

    Waltham Transit & Connectivity

Apologies for the off-topic aside, but an RLX project that terminates at Arlington Heights is DOA politically. (Happy to hear replies in whatever thread is appropriate.)

    Waltham Transit & Connectivity

I wonder how, historically, a city as large as Waltham missed out on more transit connections. Did it never have a streetcar network? Is it that it relied on the Fitchburg Main and the Watertown Branch, and when passenger service on those went away, nothing replaced them? There used to be a bus...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Is the Bus Network Redesign project still in flight or has it been shelved? The T's website hasn't been updated in some time.

MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

While I think at this point RLX through Arlington would find a lot of support, anything that displaces or changes the bike path will be a complete non-starter here. Also, Arlington has recently made changes to its zoning which far exceed the changes required by the MBTA Communities legislation...
