First LRV for Maryland’s long delayed Purple Line was delivered & unveiled...
I just live here now and I’m nosy. The Bon Me just opened this week. The Scoop N Scootery (Zinc) is fully built already & should be opening pretty soon. And there’s definitely been a bunch of progress on the Tap 151 bar which is supposed to open in a few months.
I’m looking forward to Parcel R...
I do think that once the big bar opens under Park 151 (construction of it seems to be moving fairly quickly) hopefully the neighborhood will feel a bit more “lively”. That plus the ice cream place opening under the Zinc, the new Bon Me, and the coffee place opening in the BMS building.
How much would it realistically cost to wire up the 10ish miles of track from Waltham to North Station and buy a few trains to run every 15-20 minutes in addition to the full Fitchburg Line service? Add a couple new stations at Beaver St and 128. Seems like a no-brainer
The article was just updated to say that BEMU service would begin by the end of 2027.
Still seems like a short timeline but it is roughly in line with Metra's timeline for their BEMUs .

20 min weekday & 30 min weekend service on the Fairmount line by 2026?
It seems like everyone's dead set on these battery powered trains which I still don't totally understand but...
It feels like adding a couple stops on the Fitchburg line and buying some DMUs would be a lot easier than another green line extension. This project does look great otherwise
