South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Finally, the view we've seen from all the renders! 😅

Finally, the area is shown where the tower will sprout from!! Who wants to bet that the tower will be renamed before or by the time it is completed?!!
:)

How do you like them arches?

Looking back at the animation, I think that the additional two main columns/supports on either side of that central arch configuration are up next. Once those are complete, the tower floor plates start.

update: I cycled past this tonight and at least for now, this structure is quite visible from Summer Street. It's hard to convey in photos how massive this is; truly impressive.

I still think Rowes Wharf has the city's best arch, but this is making an argument for itself.

Speaking of which, after seeing the plans and renderings for Commonwealth Pier I've started fantasizing about the city and owner doing something similar there. Right now you walk under a grand arch only to come out to a rather cramped and underwhelming space. It could definitely use a little more grandeur and drama.

In the 7th pic down, what are the drum fans for, to warm the platform area? :)

Seems that there has been a problem with that, which may be part of the reason why both Amtrak & the MBTA want to get away from the use of air-polluting fuel exhaust fumes!!

That is certainly the end goal!!!! It can't happen fast enough. It would help the air quality at Back Bay tremendously.
