"A Newton developer says he's finally ready to break ground on a three-story, 127-unit apartment building at H and East 1st streets in South Boston, more than 10 years after what was then the BRA approved the project."

This project is like Reason 9,785 that Boston's zoning code is flawed. The project was designed to comply with the Zoning Code back in 2012 - making it short, lower density, and heavy on parking (1.2 spaces per unit). It is surrounded by industrial uses and higher density housing and it's a 20 minute walk to the Broadway red line station (maybe a 5 minute walk to the closest Silver Line station). There is no logical reason that this development should be limited to three stories or be forced to provide more parking spaces than housing units.
