That will do wonders for the feel of Boston Ave between College and Winthrop.
Agree - but why-oh-why can't there be a GLX entrance in the middle of that stretch where there is actually a ginormous entry/exit ramp structure already built, but blocked off for emergency use only. Talk about low hanging fruit to make that stretch 100x better.

Something was happening on the grassy slope today:

HOOOOOOUSING!!! Why wasting space on a low rise aquatic center in a spot right next to direct transit into Boston with no immediate neighbors to complain and no housing tower above? Should be an 800 bed dorm.

They're currently building a dorm at Tufts with almost 700 beds.

[not sure if serious meme]

Tufts has a swimming and diving team that's nationally Top-10 in DIII, but the only pool on campus is 80 years old and can't be used for competition (nor can it even be used for practice for the diving team). Building a new aquatics center in among their new/renovated gym and indoor track and baseball and softball and tennis and soccer/lacrosse/field hockey facilities seems be an obvious choice.

There are also plenty of immediate neighbors here to complain, directly abutting this site. A quiet indoor pool will get an order-of-magnitude less community pushback than a housing tower.

And if you can name a single Olympic-sized swimming pool anywhere in the world with a housing tower built above it, I'd love to hear about it!

Also note that their new tennis courts inside the athletic complex replace older courts along "Professors Row" across campus from the athletic complex. There are modular housing units on the site of the old courts now, but I'm sure that long term those old courts will be turned into real academic / campus / housing buildings.

I think that concept would actually be pretty fabulous. Hell, Boston has a major train station/transpo hub with a 50 story building over it.

.....and it still doesn't excuse the malevolent design of the proposed industrial storage facility.......errr, swim center.

This looks like project design where its all about the execution in materials & details whether comes out well or not...

Throw me into the “like” bucket on this one. It has an understated elegance. The darker panels and glass seem like a nod to the Eaton Hall addition.
