Dyer said that the conservancy that oversees the Rose Kennedy Greenway had selected a new tenant after soliciting bids. He declined to identify the winning bidder, but said Trillium submitted an offer through an RFP process.
The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy could not immediately be reached for comment. Trillium also has locations in Canton, Fort Point, and the Fenway.
Dyer said that Trillium continues to expand, opening a new winter beer garden inside Winthrop Center on Tuesday.
“We were looking to create a new amenity, a new opportunity to connect with our brand during the winter months, when typically you can’t go and enjoy the social aspects of a beer garden due to a Boston winter,” Dyer said.

I wonder who won the bid to replace them on the Greenway. The rumor mill seems to think Night Shift, which would be fine IMO, but I'd love to see someone like Lamplighter expand there.

Is there any substance to those rumors? I'd actually be surprised if it was Night Shift. They've kind of gone the more corporate route over the past 5 years or so (partnering with Level 99, duplicating food menus across multiple locations, emphasis on distribution, etc.) and their existing beer gardens are extremely basic. So I'd be surprised if they submitted a proposal that really checked all of the boxes for the Conservancy. But maybe they're just throwing a ton of money at it? Who knows.

I would place my bets on Tree House. It's probably the only MA brewery with more mass appeal than Trillium. They're known for investing a lot into the aesthetics of their spaces which is strongly in alignment with the Conservancy's RFP. They have a penchant for expansion (Tewksbury, Saratoga, and Prudential in the past several years) and seemingly have the money to do it. They also have a pretty extensive selection of spirits, coffees, etc. which means they could offer more than just beer (something else the RFP considered desirable) - potentially even a coffee stand during the morning/day (Night Shift used to do coffee - not sure they still do). On top of that, they have replicated their wood fired pizza at most locations and could presumably do that on the RKG. The RFP indicated that coordinating with food trucks is an option, but serving food is also on the table for vendors who have the means. TH has the means.

I also agree that Lamplighter would be awesome. But the Conservancy is looking for at least $5k/mo plus 5% of revenue. Not sure Lamplighter has the means to do that.

Looks like Boston Harbor Distillery got the new contract:

Thankfully it's not just liquor:

This partnership not only strengthens the Conservancy’s commitment to supporting small local businesses, but also creates a welcoming, family-friendly gathering place with something for everyone including cocktails, mocktails, beer, wine, and locally-produced snacks

Caution here: From the comments section of the Globe article:

"Boston Harbor Distillery, LLC, a Dorchester, MA-based craft spirit producer, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on March 31, 2025, to reorganize, not liquidate, amid industry-wide financial pressures. The distillery, founded in 2012 by Rhonda Kallman, listed assets of $500,000–$1 million and liabilities of $1 million–$10 million, with operations initially continuing."

If this the Greenway location (with a much more varied offering of beer, cocktails, etc.) is a new channel/business model for the distillery, then perhaps this a better way forward for the business long-term.

Let's hope they are safely on the rebound.
