"Dirty Old Boston"

The Amtrak lounge at South Station has a nice collection of old school photos of South Station.

I forgot about this design, where Route 1 south would merge into the future I-93 extension from the left.
Yeah, it was one of the worst pinch points in the entire metro Boston highway system. It had an incredibly short weaving section on the Central Artery Charles River bridge between the Storrow Drive ramps and the I-93 merge, with only 3 lanes of width for cars and trucks to merge and weave their way through. There had even been talk of not building I-93 through Somerville and Charlestown because of this problem, postponing I-93 until wider bridge(s) could be built across the Charles River.

I LOVE Corbu's Carpenter Center. I used to walk up its bisecting ramp and down the other side every afternoon on my way from my high school to Harvard Square, way back in the 1960s. Such a cool building inside and out. Brutalism done the right way, not sticking out like a sore thumb as the ones at GC, but instead scaled rightly into its context perfectly.
A masterpiece.
100% agree. I’m surprised - as far as I can tell - that you’re the only person who has mentioned the carpenter center on archboston. I could not even find the word Le Corbusier on this site. This building is Le Corbusier’s only building in the USA. If I had a top 10 Boston buildings list this is on it.

I pass through it often, including this morning. And as it happens , they even just finished a renovation/addition of a roof deck.
