Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

TAP Air Portugal is going to extend its seasonal non-stop service from Porto to run year round (from October 25, 2026 through March 28, 2027). 2 times per week using A321neo equipment.

Delta is adding service to Halifax. Beginning June 13, they will operate once weekly service using E175 equipment. I seem to remember Delta running service to Halifax around 2009-2010ish before dropping it.

I heard that United Airlines is buying up a bunch of 787 Dreamliners from Boeing for it's future lineup, possibly to replace the 757's & 767's.& older 777-200's :)

United is leasing Airbus 321neos to replace the 757s. These are being called 'coastliners', for transcontinental service.
See: ,https://simpleflying.com/united-air...n-flights-premium-coastliner-airbus-a321neos/

The 100 787s are primarily, if not exclusively for intercontinental routes. They are replacing 777-200s.

The original order was for 787-9s, but recently, United converted 56 of the 787-9 model orders to the larger capacity 787-10.

This was the year for Bermuda to come back. Save Halifax for 27.*

Seriously though, Bermuda seems like one of Delta’s biggest holes right now considering BOS-BDA being a historically strong market, accessible with an A220, a relatively short roundtrip and the competition being somewhat weak.

* Newport Bermuda Race even years, Marblehead Halifax odd

It does seem a no-brainer but I wonder if Delta is waiting for BermudAir to go away. It may be awhile since Boston is one of the island carrier's only routes that treads water.

I was checking May and June roundtrip fares. BermudAir is routinely $390. JetBlue is often double that.

JetBlue is making some service cuts in Boston.

Seasonal service to Asheville will not return for the 2026 season. This also marks their departure from the market entirely.
Service to Dallas/Ft. Worth is being cut as of March 12 as they shift their lone DFW route from Boston to FLL.
Service to Phoenix will be suspended from May 27 through September 29.
Seasonal service to Sacramento is cancelled for the 2026 run.

Delta has axing their return of non-stop service to Tel Aviv. Service was due to return October 24.

While it is still a little early, Delta has published some adjustments to is NW 26/27 Europe service.

Dublin will be suspended from January 4 - February 19
Lisbon will be suspended from January 4 - February 19
Paris will operate once daily, using A330-300 equipment (was 900 neo this year)
Rome will operate the full season at 4 times a week, no suspension like this year.

Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is very disappointed to share that JetBlue will be terminating service at MHT, with their last flight scheduled for July 8, 2026. JetBlue shared that they have to “make a tough call as to how to best support national connectivity in a time of capacity crisis.” MHT has worked diligently to promote JetBlue service at MHT, providing air service incentives, a substantial marketing budget, and conducting various promotional activities to create awareness. Unfortunately, those efforts were not enough to overcome their ongoing business challenges, which have only been exacerbated by the recent spike in jet fuel prices. We know the community will also be disappointed to hear this news. However, we will continue to seek new carriers and routes and hope to welcome JetBlue back to MHT in the future.

Also found this interesting article on JetBlue's 10 worst performing routes that makes some sense of it. JFK-MHT came in at #1 with only 29% load factor.

I won’t pretend to even begin to comprehend the complexities of essential air service but BOS to presque isle. They need $12m a year to fund this how does it make sense to use an a220?

Edit: went down a mini rabbit whole. The service is actually out to bid right now. Thought this was interesting.

“American Airlines’ bid proposes at least 12 roundtrip weekly flights on a 65-seat jet, split between Boston and Philadelphia. The airline is seeking a two-year contract with an average annual subsidy of $8.2 million.

JetBlue is seeking a four-year contract for an annual subsidy worth $11,521,129, or a two-year term worth $11,745,899 annually”

Royal Air Maroc will be running a charter flight to Boston during the World Cup:

Hainan, for the summer, is making its 3 times per weekly service from Beijing non-stop in both directions. Previously, the flight operated Beijing-Boston-Brussels-Beijing. They will continue to operate using Boeing 787-9 equipment. They will be blocking off seats, but I am wondering if there is a typo in the reporting:

Royal Air Maroc has increased the number of charter flights they will run into Boston for the World Cup.

A bit of an interesting one: BermudAir will be expanding its service to Boston from Central America and the Caribbean (as part of a large expansion for them).

They will add service to the following:

Turks and Caicos - Once weekly service from December 19, 2926 and May 1, 2027
Belize - Twice weekly service from December 19, 2926 and May 1, 2027
Guatemala City - Twice weekly service from December 19, 2926 and May 1, 2027

Guatemala City will not be non-stop as they are calling it direct service, which I am guessing may mean the service will run something like Boston to Belize to Guatemala City.

Are they running all of these with their Embraer fleet...? That's like a 4 hour flight to Turks and Caicos.
