Suffolk Downs Redevelopment | East Boston/Revere

World cup watch party on the little circular park thing.

She was asked this directly and called Revere's efforts to jumpstart housing a "race to the bottom"
Well, if she means they are getting crappy Everett style, quick build 5 over 1s without any kind of street activation, then she's correct. This area should be another Assembly Row, but it doesn't look like that is happening, based on what is currently under construction.

The entire Suffolk Downs development is a huge disappointment. Landscrapers with a horrible street grid. Lots of surface parking. Way to little retail. And the commercial development portion is DOA because it was all biotech labs.

Theres a bunch of retail spaces here unlike everett, theyre just boarded up for now because theres only 1 building so far in the middle of a construction site. All of that pink and blue swirly shit isnt a mural… its future retail spaces. The architecture definitely isnt great, but its not going to be an everett style retail desert.

Good point that there is retail potential there, just not leased yet (for obvious reasons).

Isn't the problem in Everett's Commercial Triangle that the area is a flood plain? They are not doing ground level retail because the first floors are parking to mitigate the flood damage hazard?
