Final rendering of the Portland Market which will be located on the lower level and shifted a few yards to the west which will allow for a fourth baggage carousel. Construction will begin this fall after removal of the current Shipyard pub and kitchen space. Still waiting for the shipping dates from Oshkosh for the five new passengers boarding bridges but hopefully they'll start arriving in a few months. As much as Paul would love to have a museum quality wildlife exhibit and he appreciated NR2Portland's efforts, the operational need for more baggage claim capacity is driving the jetport's current plans.

I guess it's a step up from a stuffed moose.....I guess.
 
Is the plan still to replace baggage claim carousels 1-3 due to the design flaws of baggage getting jammed when loading ?, The State of Maine museum should offer an exhibit or have LL Bean build one? How about the Gulf of Maine Research Institute build one , The lower area needs some attention... aka old check in area.. or is that area going to be mostly FIS when it gets built in the next century.. LOL

The wildlife exhibit will remain and be moved a little further west near the corner.

Yes, new inline carousels will be installed.

A schematic of where (near the disabled escalator) and what the lower level portion of the future FIS facility will look like. The former Delta ticket counter would be where the "future escalator" will be eventually located. Plans are to still move forward with the project during the current century. :)

Planning probably hasn’t gotten this far yet, but I hope the barrier between the FIS facility and the “open to public” area is glass instead of a wall. That hallway needs any upgrade to its aesthetic it can get!
 
At last check, the lower level will be a more secure and self contained office environment but the upper level concourse set up will feature sliding glass partitions that can be switched from domestic to international usage on demand.
 
So the intent is that International gets its own baggage carousel? Cool, but it doesn't look like there's much waiting area there.

And, the turns out of the jetways into the corridor look really tight. That could be awkward for wheelchair users. I realize the Jetport only has so much room to work with, of course.
