    Charlestown Infill and Small Developments

I don't pretend to know what "Charlestown Voice's" real motivations are, but it does seem to me that you could sell this building and use the proceeds to put up a lot more PSH units elsewhere in Charlestown (or elsewhere in the city). This site is basically on the Freedom Trail. Why not swap...

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

Flipping through my latest edition of ENR this AM and noticed that B to C Connector won New England Project of the year in the Airport Category.

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

The electric substations are not going away. So you'll drive between a 345kV substation (left) and a 115kV substation (right) on your way into the stadium (if they utilize the existing curb cut). Of course, I'd expect the pedestrian entrance to be along the harborwalk.

    Charlestown Infill and Small Developments

I talked to a restaurateur who lives in Charlestown and he said the building's dimensions made a restaurant tough for the space.

10 World Trade | BGI Office Tower (Massport Parcel A2) | Seaport

I drive by / under this every day. The steel definitely looks like finished product (it's coated), but I don't remember ever seeing a rendering showing a "porch" extending out over Congress Street. So I'm just as confused as you are....

    Charlestown Infill and Small Developments

I live in Charlestown now. I'm surprised to hear you say that people don't pick up their dog shit. I used to live in the South End and there was dog shit EVERYWHERE. I feel like it's much much better in Charlestown. I agree with your opinion that it's the best spot to live in Boston....

Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike Parcel 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

Update: the steel QA/QC problem had to do with the galvanized coating. Apparently the galvy was flaking off in some areas. I don't blame DOT for getting spooked by that.

Yes. Work will resume soon. I can't imagine how much they're costing themselves in carrying costs. Although, maybe it's not as bad as you'd think because they're leasing air rights (i.e., they don't have some huge mortgage on a parcel they own).

Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike Parcel 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

JF White is in charge of building the deck over the pike. So the micropile driller, cast-in-place concrete sub, steel erector, etc. are all subcontractors to JF White. At bid time, JF White had a low steel number from a company that was not DOT prequaled (not sure if this means their fab...

    North Washington St Bridge

Ouch, I hadn't noticed that before. I wonder if it has to do with differing jurisdictions. Isn't the Army Corp typically responsible for maintaining navigable waterways? So they may have said to the City, we don't care what you want the bridge bumpers to look like, we're going with the cheap...

    Boston College Master Plan

Sorry to ping an old post, but you aren't wrong. The last two years the underpinned a bunch of the mods with helical piles and this year they replaced/upgraded all the underground electric through the mods. They're not tearing down the mods, they're investing in them 🤦‍♂️!!!

Cape Cod Rail, Bridges and Highways

Latest I heard (and this is pretty consistent with that presentation) is that the DOT wants to copy what they did with the Whittier Bridge project. Replace one bridge with two network-tied-arch bridges. Or in this case replace two bridges with four network-tied-arch bridges. Latest price tag...

    "Dirty Old Boston"

The apocryphal story I heard was that both towers were supposed to be the same Johnson design (basically mini-twin towers). But the Back Bay was so mortified when they started seeing Johnson's finished product that they demanded the second tower be changed. And PoMo begot more PoMo. That story...

    North Washington St Bridge

Why would they wait until 2025 to take down the temp bridge if they're moving 3 lanes to the new bridge this Winter? We're not getting a fourth lane out of the temp bridge, right?

Is this where you saw it? There's a fifth jet fuel tank going in there. It's being built on massive concrete piles.

City Hall Plaza Revamp | Government Center

Does anyone have any insight into whether or not building on City Hall Plaza would be difficult because of the subway tunnels underneath? I've never heard that cited as an excuse for why it's not redeveloped. Just curious.
