    Green Line Type 10 Procurement

I think it's *turquoise green*. A bit odd, but makes more sense than straight turquoise.

New Red and Orange Line Cars

At long last, Red Line cars 1912/13 have just been delivered this week to Cabot, breaking a drought of over a year (June 2022 was the prior delivery, iirc).

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Operators speeding is a big issue on the Green, unfortunately. One time I was riding the train of an operator friend when he was in the trailing car, and he kept pointing out how the leader was going [value] over the limit and showing me the limit signs through the door window as we passed (and...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

My understanding is that simulated service began on November 1, which would be 11 months this coming Sunday. Semantics aside, the degrading in that time period is ridiculous.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/09/27/metro/questions-mount-slowed-green-line-extension-track-which-t-says-has-always-been-narrow/ The T basically saying the tracks "[have] always been narrow".... uhh, yikes. This means they knew and didn't bother to tell the public until pressed by the...

Hey MBTA, what the [insert four-letter word of your choice] happened? The Sullivan-Community southbound slow zone is now back up to a 3 minute travel time after being at line speed for all of 2 days a week ago before increasing to nearly 2.5 minutes. I think this is the finest example of slow...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

Yeah, Braintree isn't an ideal spot as far as a transfer to the Red Line (signage was a bit confusing when I was there too and almost missed a train because of it). I mostly suggested it because it would be easier operationally than turning a train at the single-tracked Quincy Center with the...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

I wonder if Greenbush-Braintree shuttle trains in regular service, via the wye, could be theoretically possible to fill in some of the gaps (perhaps same with the other Old Colony lines to Braintree). The Old Colony single tracking must make scheduling a nightmare; this could be a good way to...

Ahhh. Sorry for the misunderstanding, and for my prior saltiness which I removed as soon as I realised that you were probably talking about MassDOT/MBTA. My bad.

I don't think this tells the whole story. Using the weekday schedule, there are about 17 or so round trips scheduled on the Braintree Branch after 8:45 pm (rough count using Pantograph, I'm not sure when the earliest trip that gets cut actually happens so I was just going off arrival time in...

*sighs* It looks like the Sullivan-Community slow zone has been re-instated today, albeit not anywhere near as bad as it was prior. Line speed was nice while it lasted.

Not quite 10 mi/h the whole way, but a good portion of that route is covered by 10 mi/h restrictions on the southbound. Tufts-FH took 13 minutes three years ago but takes 20 now. Not great, to say the least... (note: forest hills data is wacky on TM dashboard lately, but 20 minutes is in line...

It was shown in the June System-Wide Accessibility meeting. https://www.mbta.com/events/2023-06-07/public-meeting-accessibility-and-daniels-finegold-v-mbta-settlement-update it's in the meeting presentation on that link (PDF or video).

All these are absolutely factors for the current mess on the Red Line. It will likely be several more years before the order is complete -- at the rate they're going (4 cars/month on the Orange Line with months being missed here and there), if there are no new deliveries on the Red Line till the...

The signage should *really* be beefed up at Logan Airport in particular. Not a great look for people using the system for the first time.

New Red and Orange Line Cars

There has finally been some more movement with the Orange Line fleet. 1478/79, which was delivered in February, has been accepted for revenue service. This brings the accepted and active CRRC fleet to 13 full sets (78 cars). They've generally been operating with a spare ratio of at least 2...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

All good. In your defense, it's easy to interpret "trains" as sets (6 cars), pairs (2 cars), or individual cars, and the T not updating their own website regarding the OL order is a bit embarrassing.
