MXD Residential Tower | 121 Broadway | Kendall Square

The new pedestrian cut through on the left side of this image is amazing. Makes walking to Kendall a couple minutes faster. And you get a great view of the construction site!

    Grounding the McGrath

This is a bad idea for lots of reasons, but it would be funny to have buildings right up to the curb, no sidewalk/bike lane, and then have all pedestrian access on the other side of the new wall of buildings minus crosswalks. Kind of a open trench for the highway except it's on the ground level.

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

I'm excited for hopefully a bit less wind in the area

    Milton infill and small development

I don't really want to start an argument, but I find the idea that housing values would substantially decrease from a mdoest upzoning a little suspicious. Especially considering that multifamily and sfh are not wholly the same market. I can envision a future where there's enough housing that sfh...

Back Bay Garage Tower | Dartmouth and Stuart | Back Bay

Here we have it folks, a perfect featureless cube of capital dropped onto Boston's downtown. So shiny that you can't even observe it directly.

    BU Development Thread

The ninth floor as it was before the renovation had a good view of the Charles and was really a pretty decent study space, despite how dingy it was and how disgusting the windows were (they were filthy, and someone had apparently epoxied some cracks in them rather than replacing them, so there...

Quincy Market Update/Renovation | Faneuil Hall Marketplace | Downtown

Visited yesterday... and while either side of Quincy market is decent, the North and South markets are kind of dumpy up close. And if you walk around to the other side of the N/S markets the street is falling apart and basically dead. I don't see how it would ever happen, but redeveloping those...

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

Rough travel times east cambridge -> BU: - Uber/Drive: 15 min - Bike: 15 min - Walk: 1 hr - Green Line or walk to Kendall / Green Line: 1 hr - CT2: 37 min The current no good, terrible, very bad CT2 bus is absolutely better than the circuitous and slow central subway at least for my...

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

It's weird we talk about urban ring so much in here, but we can't even get an hourly bus for the route. Realistically the grand junction is East Cambridge -> BU, its not harvard square or union square -> BU, why can't we at least throw a bus down through that route that runs with a decent...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I might expect another residential tower at BU over the next ten years

Transit Planning $h!tposting (Ideas so bad, they're good)

I always thought it would be good to pick a high place (say, the top of the old state house) and have a slide with a moderate grade where you wouldn't be going too fast to a low place (say, government center). Only one direction, but the connections possible are incredible.

    Maxwell | 35 Garvey Street | Everett

Some people have bad taste in music, and generally having bad taste in music prevents you from becoming a good musician. Having bad taste in architecture does not prevent you from being employed as an architect. I assume most architects are boring middle class professionals like me and generally...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

@Riverside Very nice map, super interesting subject. If you don't mind me asking I'm curious what program you used. My thoughts... Comm ave subway is very attractive to me, but six tracks with BRT? Is this just to avoid interlining completely? BU could really use a less wide comm ave. The...

If You Were God/Goddess | Transit & Infrastructure Sandbox

I've collaborated with world class architects to finally come up with a solution to our I90-shaped problem. I've managed to solve the transit needs of the area, preserve car traffic, as well as find a place to stick that ballpark that's taking up so much space that should be dedicated to labs...

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

I like how that actually appears to be wider on all counts than the existing road, but it could be google maps playing tricks on us

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

Easy to forgot how close newbury is to fenway when the walking path through the fens is so circuitous due to the weird road layout and wide intersections

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

It strikes me that I'm not sure Harvard are the right owners of this land. Given this project's importance and the amount of land at stake, it might make more sense for the city to expropriate the land to ensure it's put to its highest use. Cambridge should probably be shouldering more...

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Ctrl+C Ctrl+V the old west end street grid on the site. Open photoshop and fix up the connections to cambridge st so they are sensible. Suddenly nobody will want to drive a car in there cause it's too narrow

BU Data Sciences Center | 665 Commonwealth Avenue | BU Central

These photos are so interesting to me as a BU alum who wasn't around back then. No security fencing around the tracks, the PCC cars, no pavement markings, the cars are small and don't all look the same... as far as street life I can say this has definitely improved the area, and people seem to...
