    NYC Architecture and Development

The way that tower looms in person is something else. Pictures don't do it justice, you have to be there to see it. That being said, I captured a couple of shot when I was in nyc in March:

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Not to veer any more off topic but this is the worst time for a slow down in new development activity given the continued rising cost of rent in Boston. I was a bit shocked that there hasn't been new proposal for residential projects or a restart in several old proposal since many of them...

Bay Village Apartment Tower | 212 Stuart St. | Bay Village

I'm going to say that alternating window, as vibe has already mentioned, is an overuse trope, a lazy attempt at trying to make a façade stand-out, and one that absolutely eliminates any sense of verticality, which when paired with colossal order, does a tremendous job making a building look...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

In the rendering, it appears there are 3 floors above the indents before the crown begins which look equivalent to maybe 2 floors? So 2 more stories of height

Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Not to be a stickler of data interpretation but this doesn't necessarily mean that people aren't leaving MA, it's possible a lot of this is driven by people in rural and suburban MA moving to Boston in addition to moving out of state while people already living in Boston are staying put

Skylines and Developments of the US/World

Los Angeles has been rapidly densifying the DTLA core in recent years, with several large developments approved or u/c around my area. There's a plethora of other proposals but I'm not going to list them here until they are approved, seeing how a few of these towers have been approved for a...

How Tall Are Boston's Buildings and Should They Be Taller?

Bruh, we all know what's the source of all the problems is. It's Logan Airport. I say this partially in jest but the location never made sense since it literally funnels all travelers outside of Boston (North, West, South) through the city, causing immense traffic. Move it, height limits' are...

Some interior shots now that I have a relative who is moving in here

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I honestly don't know which map is right or wrong. If walking between them a lot is proof though, then well, I used to work at 211 Congress St. which requires me to walk past both MT and WT and 20-30 ft looks plausible to me, especially when the increase in elevation is very gradual, so I don't...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

You can click on it and it will tell you the ft. When I drop the pin at Winthrop, it says it's between 70-75ft. When I drop it on MT, it's around 100-105ft. Either way, Winthrop isn't going to look noticeably higher or shorter than MT at the end of the day

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Yeah it was me. I looked at a elevation map of Boston and I believe Winthrop sits about 20-30 ft below MT https://en-us.topographic-map.com/maps/f02f/Boston/

Skylines and Developments of the US/World

Again, it's a matter of taste and context. Stick One Dalton and Millennium Tower in Toronto and neither one would stand out. Stick any of the ones I mentioned from Toronto in Boston and they would stand out, not from just the sheer height, but because most are not a monolithic blocks that blends...

Skylines and Developments of the US/World

2002...yeah you need to go back there again. Here's what they have put up since then: Aura: One Bloor: CIBC: St. Regis: Uptown Residences: 88 Scott: And here's what they are currently putting up. Skytower (essentially a better version of one of the proposal for Winthrop Center)...

Skylines and Developments of the US/World

I don't know what your gripe is with Toronto but their track record of churning out quality towers is actually pretty solid. Easily the third best in North America behind Chicago and NYC. You should go take a trip out there and actually see them in person.

    Zuck

The issue is vigilantism and different interpretations of morality. Give a person who grew up with a nativism background a gun and you'll have someone that can justify their act of violence on immigrants. Victims are then justified to respond and victims of victims are then justified to respond...

    Zuck

What about inciting violence? What you're describing only prevents the action of one individual, the person issuing the threat. What happens if they influence others to commit violent acts? Being a person of Asian descent, hearing violence committed to people that look like me because of...

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

I agree with you but Dubai was designed for that very reason. In a sense, the economics did call for it, specially to diversify the city into a tourism mecca. I'm also hesitant to call it Vegas-esque; much of their skyscrapers are designed to reflect cultural roots.

Yeah I'm blessed to know someone who has access to the MT. Will probably ping him a few times to get updates.
