    Biking in Boston

I think it’s a question of semantics; I would have been clearer what I had meant, which is "the suburban portions of the city of Boston, to the west of the urban core of Boston". Although I am not sure why anyone would think I was claiming the Cummins was used by people in the long list of...

Franklin Park - White Stadium Renovation

I think the concern is 1) hosting major events and the influx of people into an area with zero infrastructure to get them there or park and 2) the lack of transparent process or community / stakeholder involvement for something that is a pretty major decision. Both of these points were summed up...

    Biking in Boston

OK dude, I’m not here for an argument but I live in Roslindale, use Cummins all the time, and my wife works in Milton and uses it daily. I’m just tellin you what I see on a regular basis but if you wanna roll in hot with data from an app, have at it. I said already I support a major road diet...

    Biking in Boston

I think for commute times the traffic will definitely increase. It’s the main corridor to get between western Boston suburbs and Milton and Quincy. But we’ll see. Agree overall it’s less dense than Centre.

    Biking in Boston

I think for this, given "community opposition" (which usually means like ten loud angry voices) to bike lanes in this part of town, the city is keeping this a very low profile until they just do the construction. And it is in fact taking a major arterial and it will, no doubt, increase traffic...

    Biking in Boston

Would be surprised, since they're removing both the median as well as two driving lanes... it's one of Boston's most depressing roads, so either way this is a huge improvement

I realize it's mark of true nerd-dom that I get excited when I see those BERY poles

Pleasure Drive is the former counterflow lane parallel to Pond Ave. It was eliminated as an auto road in the 1990s thanks to local advocacy. Both are west of the Muddy River, and of the Riverway. Cool about the pole on Boylston. Looks close to the fire station up toward Chestnut Hill?

Careful with precision there. That area was not demolished for the highway, it was demolished for urban renewal projects on both sides of Rt 9. My babysitter as a kid grew up in a triple-decker on Juniper Street, and experienced firsthand the eminent domain that cleared out this entire area...

East Boston Infill and Small Developments

This. Why cant this type of zoning be made for the entire city? The lack of small retail and cafes in Boston is one of the more striking aspects of most residential neighborhoods here in contrast to other, similar density cities. Some areas are just sad deserts where youre lucky to see a...

    Grounding the McGrath

Because the government never, ever actually gives space back. They cancel the interstate but leave the ROW. It's a real shame there isnt more agility in the way these things are planned, but look at Melnea Cass, look at Govt Center/City Hall. There is never any consideration of actual land use...

Removing parking between Beech and Poplar would go a long way.

Actually, the current plan has the worst of both worlds: @curcuas it does have bikes speeding down the last leg of the road in Peters Hill, and @HenryAlan it still has a somewhat flabbergastingly pointless uphill-downhill segment, since the path veers away from the tracks and goes up the hill to...

    Roslindale Infill and Small Developments

Yes, but my point is you dont need tons of bells and whistles here. It's an entrance to a park. It doesn't need much. What does need much is the area surrounding it, so until development activates this site, it's not going to be very appealing. But the gate itself needs graffiti removed and...

Yes, the path on that leg is moving right along. That's Phase 1, according to this: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/0f3a837adeec47abb477866fb475a2fd In my opinion, that plus the South St Connector (Phase 2, but that's the boardwalk leg which I'd expect is very expensive) are the most...

Eh, that’s happening anyway. I do wonder what this would have looked like from the arboretum. Probably not super visible but seeing hulking buildings from the arboretum (like the state concrete monstrosity) is shitty.
