Wow... I know this isn’t revelatory, but man Boston could use some color palette diversity here. (It worlds in Edinburgh’s ‘old town’. In Boston’s new town? Not so much). Bay Tower, from these photos, represents a splash of light and an erosion of the visual monoculture there.

According to the project's official email update (sent last week), the deep foundation work for the tower will begin in August. IIRC, that work will take several months (while the above ground bus station expansion is brought to full fruition in time for a late 2022 opening).

What is the likelihood of this development increasing the chances of the One Kenmore Square Hotel (560 Commonwealth) getting built? My amateur-grade level of thinking is that a mini-life sciences fortress going up 1 block away could only improve the prospect of a new hotel nearby.

Yes, that stipulation (no COA till those garage sections are fully demolished) is officially written into the BDPA's approval. I happened upon that note when I foolishly and ineptly attempted to find an official height (including mech and fins) given for the office tower.
