General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Someone on Reddit made an "improved" version of the map. I like the ida of noting the distance between stations.

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Theres like 15 different hotels along the SL Route. You dont think travelers are interested in that? There are more taxis and Uber options downtown since there are both origin and destination trips. The problem with the airport is that flights arrive at 1am, but dont depart. Why would a taxi...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

I feel like an on-board radar based emergency break system, such as those found standard in an entry-level Corolla since 2017, would make more sense for the surface lines than a track-side system, but Im no high-priced consultant.

    General Infrastructure

"The crosswalks to the island in the center of the Circle will be removed, and pedestrians will be expected to use the crosswalks along the perimeter of the Circle to reach their destination" This is dumb, especially since theres stuff to look at in the middle

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

There absolutely should be 24 hour transit service to the airport, at least once every 30 minutes between 1am and 5am. Getting to South Station is far better than getting nowhere at all

First they will need to put together a commission to investigate the feasibility of increasing service. I am sure the comission will be populated by December at which point they can schedule their first meeting for next March and have a report finalized by December 2022.

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

I think itll be Providence to Portugal. Maybe Porto and Madeira? I was actually just in Portugal, via a 767. Best plane for long flights. You have 3.5 seats per aisle, vs 6 seats per aisle in a 737/757, and only one middle seat per row. Oh and I had the entire center section to myself, so that...

    Biking in Boston

Shocking news about the Comm Ave protected bike lanes: Bikeshare ridership tripled on routes using the separated bike lane after its installation. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S2213624X21001097

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Why is the fence needed, are they worried the green line train might get confused and try to change tracks?

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

I like the canopy design, I think it looks modern and clearly visible from a distance. A good advertisement for the T, What I hate in the first picture is the absolutely idiotic use of a shoulder, which makes 4 feet of the ROW completely useless. Could have been a nice row of trees. Thanks...

COVID-19 Impacts on Logan, MBTA, and Boston travel and tourism

Im not in Boston, but my work is recommending people come in 2x a week starting July and 4x a week starting August. Not required and employees were directed to speak with their direct supervisor for additional guidance. The guy in charge of my unit has a 90 minute commute so hes more than happy...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

The Globe is not a tabloid. When they publish something like that, its because they know exactly what is happening but are not allowed to quote someone. Thats pretty much journalism 101 and Im surprised both you and F are confused by that. Had the Herald reported it, than yeah, grain of salt.

So its basically just sidewalk extensions where the stops already are? Thats fine.

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

Im confused, they want to do this where theres already a central median (idiotic) or the section where the tracks are already on the street?

Regional New England Rail (Amtrak & State DOT & NEC)

The plan calls for a train to leave New York's Penn Station at 2:20 p.m. Fridays and arrive in Pittsfield at 6:10 p.m. A return trip Sunday would leave Pittsfield at 2:45 p.m. and arrive in New York at 6:45 p.m. That is exactly what I would need for this upcoming wedding.... Looks like its...
