One Post Office Square Makeover and Expansion | Financial District

Generally I feel like the red bracing is the only standout feature of this re-clad, but this angle is somehow strangely very visually pleasing.

    "Dirty Old Boston"

The bottom ribbons of the bow extend halfway down the ground-level of the Grain Exhange building. When you're walking around, it's really pretty diffcult to *not* notice it (unless you're truly glued to your smartphone 100% of the time).

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

Post #311 in 2020 was the first in this thread to predict CarGurus imminent demise.

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

Looks very "outskirts of London" -- not in a bad way.

    AI Redraws Boston

Well, the algorithm go the squat and boxy aesthetic down right. Not sure why the JHT got (literally) shortchanged so much in terms of height.

10 World Trade | BGI Office Tower (Massport Parcel A2) | Seaport

Even if it's almost always "dark," that'd be awesome. We have enough blue or mirrored glass towers. Not TOO many, but enough. Other than 1 Dalton, we don't have any prominent dark glass highrises (which, I realize at this height, 10 World Trade isn't really...).

Bulfinch Triangle Infill & Small Projects

By "housing," I didn't expressly mean condos/houses. Why not apartments?

Why not housing? I don’t get it

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I think reason 2 is the primary culprit for most of the GLX issues. That said, I am so happy the GLX exists at all. That Eng is fixing the rush-job screwups as quickly and as well as possible is also very encouraging.

Dick’s House of Sports | Prudential Center | Back Bay

Fully agree. That said, this does feel like replacing a Gucci store in Beverly Hills with a Dave & Buster’s or Chuck E Cheese, tonally. There’s still an abundance of “highbrow” content in Back Bay, but I get (at least some of) the sentiment being expressed by a few on here.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Interesting. I went on both Friday and Saturday and we couldn't get outdoor seating either day and had to wait forever to get served when we went indoors b/c it was so packed.

One Post Office Square Makeover and Expansion | Financial District

Interesting. Reads as Frankfurt to me (also in a good way). Re: citydweller's take -- I, too, wish the red hadn't been quite so subtly applied. The only thing I miss about the previous version is the weird little glass trapezoid-cum-ziggurat room on the very top floor. The first renders of the...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I could absolutely see myself having a different take if this space becomes more than it currently is. I don’t believe the current “meh-ness” is situational or incidental and will change as the square opens, though. I think calling out Millenium’s failure to deliver is the only way to...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I’m confused by the “let’s wait to pass judgement” stance. Hub Hall, Time Out Market, Bow Market, and plenty other spaces opened for business when they were still in a state of “not quite done-ness” very similar to (or worse than) “The Connector” and they were vibrant from jump.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I believe the “skinny part” is made up of 16 floors and the mechanical penthouse.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I agree with most of that, but if the model is entirely dead then how come so many “markets” are doing just fine in Boston and elsewhere? As per my earlier reply in this post, at precisely the time I took the picture that served as catalyst for this round of the conversation, High Street Place...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

When I snapped the pic that prompted Shmessy's response-post, High Street Place Food Hall (literally across the street) was hoppin. "The Connector: Where Boston Comes Together" sucks. Will is "suck less" eventually? Maybe. Is it -- or will it ever be -- even vaguely like what was promised by...
