I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Yeah. Our project will get beat out by some very long bridge over a very wide river in a red state -- saaaay Nebraska - allowing 20 Cornhuskers per day to motor over to the AM/PM MiniMart and the local pharmacy on the other side. They fill a Reagan-Era "Thirsty-Two Ouncer" with HFCS-laden...

Bill Russell Bridge | North Washington St.

The bridge is nice. A majority here think it's a pretty cool design, but you are unyielding in your passion to lobby a subjective alternative position after the die has literally been cast. What we agree on are the shortcomings of modern accepted construction management practices and all the...

Bill Russell Bridge | North Washington St.

East Berlin called, they want their design brief back. This isn't a boondoggle. This is a non-design-build contractor with a handful of suburban-based construction dudes working at a comfortable pace over a very cold body of water brought in to fix some welds that were designed wrong and...

Bill Russell Bridge | North Washington St.

I can’t tell if we’re being trolled or not anymore. Okay, I’ll play along… Yes. It’s hideous. I can’t stand it. Horrible. Worst bridge ever. My god. Boondoggle. /sarcasm this is why we can’t have nice things.

    Allston-Brighton Infill and Small Developments

I'd agree. Leave the stone alone. There are ways to build over it without completely destroying the character of those blocks. I still think of a lot of odd little alleys off Harvard Ave between Brighton and Cambridge Streets. Give me big drafty store windows over tan/gray cladding any day...

State to take closer look at tolls on I-93

Backward tax policy got us into this mess. Forward tax policy will get us out. Can you imagine if in the '50s we all decided to... Give $10k in tax incentives for not owning a car Toll all major highways Incentivize multi-unit dwellings Penalize racist, gluttonous SFD-only zoning Make...

State to take closer look at tolls on I-93

State to take closer look at tolls on I-93

It’s a use tax - like a Charlie Card. But I’m sure a study from the Pioneer Institute exists for just this occasion.

State to take closer look at tolls on I-93

I would love to see numbers on that. Also, I’m okay with tolls going to fix the respective tolled roads. It means we can steer previously highway targeted MassDOT money to transit instead of highways.

State to take closer look at tolls on I-93

Dusting this forum off… Now that we can slap EZ pass gantries anywhere, I have a politically savvy idea. We could start tolling N-S 93 drivers while lowering tolls a for E-W 90 drivers. This raises revenue while making burbers fight each other.

Assume there will likely be intermediary terminii based on line demand. Yes. So GHIJK all stop at Forest Hills. Oh and I meant C-J for the Amtrak marriage. Lowell (B-J) should get a couple daily runs to NYC and beyond as well. The B-J and the C-J already go through that run every 30 minutes...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Sidebar your honor... it seems like some of our evidence has been tampered with. I was looking at some old NSRL plans and as I had feared, some of the North Point development parcels have absorbed previously spoken for tunnelling turf. Exhibits A and B... Obviously some of the...

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

Taking a breather from current events for a second, i.e. waiting for the Healey stance to be announced. Without getting into minutiae of what is immediately possible -- because there are a lot of things that would need to change for the ideal to happen (like fed-match, full electrification...

    Biking in Boston

If only we had some sort of tagging system you could slice threads how you wanted. Yes... I agree there are often differing concerns about types of bike infrastructure and users. I am saying if someone in Belmont wants me to advocate for their path (and I would) and I live in Boston, I might...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

Yeah... Good call on mentioning this. Honest mistake. It's funny how rah-rah business-speak has crippled our language. This is clearly a failure of neo-liberal economics -- aka the usually blame-freed global free market. We as a nation decided to forget how to build light rail trains...
