Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Anyone see any plans on how they plan to re-configure the lanes on the prospect st bridge? No way that 3-foot sidewalk can remain once there's foot traffic to/from the station. The area is also pretty hostile to bikes and peds (and cars I guess since the bridge is constantly backed up). Maybe...

    Memorial Drive Greenway Phase III

Anecdotally, it feels like the road is way overbuilt for all times except the peak of peak rush hour. Plus theres so much signaling (i.e. lights) for side streets for the sole reason that you can't have a uncontrolled intersection across 2 lines of highway traffic (even the traffic levels don't...

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

I find it absurd that there exists a station and ROW directly to Gillette but the service is so abysmal. With the whole push to reduce congestion and reduce drunk driving this seems like the biggest no-brainer to run legitimate service (i.e. 3 trains at 30-min intervals pre-event, 3 trains out...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Are they planning to develop all empty lots to the north? Right now it's sad that the encatchment is half wasteland - and the useful half requires you to cross a 8-lane highway on foot. Kind of like the Red line stop in charles circle.. was there really no better way to design it so that not...

    Biking in Boston

whats important is the queue jumps at the lights (the bridge rarely never gets backed up with traffic). So we could just have a Z-shaped config (where both ends have two lanes exiting the bridge and one lane entering the bridge). Then One of those two lanes will be bus-only and give a queue jump...

    Biking in Boston

Rode these this morning. They basically just put up cones on the outside car lane to convert it into a bike lane - super pleasant to be able to not ride in the puddles in the normal 5-foot bike gutter in the rain. Do we know if this is the "temporary" solution while flex post are built and...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Anyone know if the silver line ramp ever made it into revenue service? Last I remember was that the pilot was successful but they only allow it during afternoon rush. Is that right or did they just scrap the ramp completely?

    Biking in Boston

Awesome news. Wish they would add Charles St to that project as well however. No alternative to it and desperately needs a 2-way cycle track.

    Biking in Boston

When do we think a re-config of the Mass Ave/Harvard Bridge will happen? I just started bike commuting on it every day and the current layout is jarring. - no access from the Charles Bike Path ramp to the bridge's bike lane: you either have to go south and go around the concrete barrier or lift...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Forgive my ignorance, but was there a pdf documenting all the station-to-street entrances/egresses? Seems like most of the pics have been centered around the ramps coming from the bridges. I can't help but think that this constantly adds 2-3 mins of extra walking both ways from the square center...

Uber & Lyft as a source of congestion

Anyone else noticing a complete lack of any TNC in the last week or so? I arrived at Logan on monday night and no Lyft or Uber was available (app showed "no cars available"), even after waiting 20 minutes or so. Seems to be improving slightly with Phase 2. Any anecdotes on this is due to lack of...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Wow, this is sweet. Might be a dumb question but is the entire ROW wide enough for quad track on both branches? or is the CR going to drop down to a single track in certain sections?

New Red and Orange Line Cars

Any word on new Red Line Cars? assuming this setback will push the timeline out about a month. Hopefully we'll see one in service by June.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Another 10mph speed restriction. They had these for months while the Longfellow was being rebuilt. I think the older 1500/1600/1700 cars can't maintain a solid 10mph exactly on the up-grade which causes the start/stop. I'm not sure how back-logged the maintenance is for these track sections but...

MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

Thank you, dd. For getting all of our voices heard. Prioritizing a >$1bn South Coast Rail that will serve 100 riders a day, over a $300m connection that will serve at least tens of thousands, is absolutely inane.

Uber & Lyft as a source of congestion

It might not sway most users but I think a $9 vs $10 ride will push maybe 10 or 15% of riders over the edge on the margin. And frankly Uber still feels "underpriced" compared to its alternatives (paying for insurance/maintenance/gas/loans for your own car). The fact that you can get a for-hire...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Any updates on freeing the Silver Line Ramp for either a peak-only opening or permanent opening at all times? I'm riding SL1 next week at 5pm and would love to not have to take a rideshare instead..

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Would love to see the source on this & any stats on seats filled on that BOS > Hayden route. Interesting that all the new "ski flights" are Ikon Pass resorts (Jac, Steamboat, Big Sky). The duopoly in the ski pass industry will have a major spillover effect if those direct flights enter service.
