Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Has the T or any related authority released any estimates for what travel times will look like to Government Center? Union Sq to GC in 10 minutes and College Ave to GC in 20 mins would be absolute gamechangers for mitigating north side auto traffic.

New Red and Orange Line Cars

Anyone see the new OL car in service today? Nothing right now. Unless they sent it out this morning, the repair is officially behind schedule on their behind schedule rollout.

MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

Are all the BL platforms (ex. Bowdoin) already long enough to fit a 6-car OL train from CRRC? Once the extension to MGH is complete I'd think we only have a handful of years before needing more capacity than the current rolling stock. The Maverick to GC stretch is already getting packed.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

It would need to include a grade-changing, fully electrified loop-back for the SL0 transitway vehicles though. Can the mode change be done at WTC? I was under the impression that Silver Line Way exists solely for that purpose and doesn't catch too much ridership.

MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

I think I'd much rather see them bulldoze the existing station and just close it for the duration of construction. With MGH as a terminus with questionable tail-track space, that GC to MGH stretch can already be a significant headway-limiter (like the Alewife switches). Only thing we need is...

Looks like in that video they axed the "stop signal" at the bottom of the ramp. Thank god.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Understand that none of this is groundbreaking or new info but: I rode train 834 inbound from Canton (9pm) on a weekday evening last week. A full 8-car set of bi-levels on the run, with only the last car open with something like 6 or 7 riders in total. Understand that this was likely...

    MBTA Construction Projects

Re: T construction news For Alternative 1 which approves one new full-high on the north side of the tracks.. why can't they just keep the stairs and egresses to the south-side platform for two-way service (until they can be rebuilt later)? Also, Wollaston opens today.

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

No mention of the APM? They did a study last year finding that it would take about 5-10 mins off the travel time with the buses. Really feels like a sooner or later thing with the projected growth.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Does it seriously take 3 extra years and $80mm more to build 3 extra side platforms?

    Memorial Drive Greenway Phase III

did they really just send one guy out there at 3am with a can of spray paint? A high school intern could've done an equally good job at that

https://www.patriotledger.com/news/20190724/first-look-at-new-wollaston-station Wollaston on track to reopen next month (assuming that means 8/31). Too bad the ride downtown is gonna take 45+ mins until....october??

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Just seems silly to look at full electrification and a full EMU fleet right now. Fairly clear that the north side will probably be electrified 10+ years after the south side, and the outer zones of the franklin line and greenbush/plymouth (with single-tracked service) probably don't justify...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Right.. just look at the amount of people that the Central/Northern/Picadilly lines move in London with two local tracks. We are no where near that, even on the Red Line trunk.

https://www.boston.com/news/local-news/2019/07/19/mbta-red-line-derailment-video MBTA just released security footage of the derailment as it occurred. A lot more sparks than I would've expected...seemed like something was destroyed on the walkway above the train? Wonder what that was. Guys on...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Anyone know what happened to the original routing of SL3 down L street? Seems like a no-brainer now with the bus routes down there.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

SL1 should stay intact. The surface-level express would be an additional "premium" express service run by MassPort. During peak times, SL1 gets so packed at SS that no one at courthouse or WTC can get on anyway. The express would divert some of those SS riders and free up room.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

They really just need to block off a loading zone on Summer St (near where the 7, 11, 4 buses stop at South Station) and run a Logan Express that leaves on a clock-facing schedule every 15 minutes. - Beats the crap out of dragging luggage through fare gates and down stairs to access the SL1...

    Congestion toll in Boston?

But would this have to happen concurrently with expanding some of the lots at the park-n-rides? I've heard that Alewife/Oak Grove/Quincy/Wonderland/128 often fill up half way through morning rush. Also unless more trains/longer trainsets are added, more riders = longer dwells = longer trip...
