State to take closer look at tolls on I-93

This caught me by surprise because l was under the same impression, but the Feds will allow/ potentially pay for existing general purpose lanes to be converted to HOT if certain hoops are jumped through. HOT lanes on the SE Xway have been studied by MassDOT in the past and outright running afoul...

Why isn't the Tobin bridge lit up at night?

Project is in the final design stages to install ornamental lighting on the Braga Bridge down in Fall River. Since they’re both old school through truss cantilevers, in about a year we should essentially have an exact ‘picture’ of what the Tobin would look like lit up.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I think that providing some sort of ped connection over the river between the future RT16 stop and West Medford would suffice (which should happen anyway to connect W Medford with the GL). Eliminates any potential ‘double backing’ and no need to shim an additional platform into a constricted...

    Bowker Overpass replacement?

This is why although l am very (maybe to a fault) pro bike/ transit, l vehemently disagree with the argument that to make transit more time competitive, we should just make SOV commutes suck as much as possible. To me, this is fundamentally different than targeted lane removal or decreasing...

    Bowker Overpass replacement?

The traffic engineers hate this so maybe its OK?

    Green Line Reconfiguration

Why are the Fitchburg tracks to the west of the GL? I assume to avoid a LRT/ heavy rail grade crossing with the GJ? Seems wicked short sighted since even if its possible to to tie into the GJ here (not convinced), best case its looking like Boylston 2.0 except on one heck of a grade. Was time...

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

“The speed limit for the stretch of northbound track between the North Station portal and Community College is currently 10 mph, slower than the 25 mph before the Orange Line shutdown, because of “space constraints and safety considerations” resulting from “excess rail” that is being stored...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

If we remove the practical considerations made by F-Line that would doom mode change on Fairmount, l think the “usefulness” component could be satisfied by routing the Fairmount “backwards” into South Station via the haul road as light rail. Would allow one seat access to the seaport and...

    Biking in Boston

Those went in sometime two weeks ago. At Charles circle instead of yield “LOOK” is striped. Odd (and probably not MUTCD compliant?) but technically on shared facilities peds always have ROW over bikes. Its DCR so grading on that scale not horrible.

Bill Russell Bridge | North Washington St.

Opened in 1982 to provide relief during the School St Bridge closure, so 40 years young. The replacement bridge is at 10% design, so outside chance it hits 50 by the time construction wraps. Id argue that the Rourke is a bit cheating since it is a functionally new crossing and the School St...

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

Nothing to add except that over 5 minutes Community to Sullivan is banana land. Honest question, does the B branch have a higher average speed than the OL North Station-Wellington?

    Green Line Reconfiguration

The 128/pike interchange is programmed and is between the 25% and 75% stages. Major reconstruction/ moderate reconfiguration of the interstate to interstate ramps and the Pike bridge over the Charles is called for, but access to the surface roads is pretty much going to remain as is. Overall...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

At Wyoming. Where standing on the platform you can see Oak Grove (snark over). Im assuming you are referring to the new developments right on the Melrose line, but those are 95% residential and aren't really a draw for any CR commuters. Most of the walkshed is SFR on Main St, Pine Banks park...
