lol @ TACO LAB, that's clever

    Gillette Stadium

If it's downtown, yes, I would be. We need that land for more important things than sports.

100 Chestnut Street | Inner Belt | Somerville

That is a very confusing render. What is under that footbridge in the foreground? There is a drawing package up on the city planning website that I don't have time to dig into at the moment that might explain it: [EDIT: These were not relevant] EDIT: Meh, ignore, it's just drawings of the...

    Kendall/MIT Infill and Small Developments

Eh, MIT has a fairly long history of being hostile to the culture that's developed in their dorms. They really want people to identify with their class year, not their living hall. Eliminating the historic/cultural identify of Random Hall is probably seen as a positive to the administration...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I've actually wondered as I wandered through if this would be a good spot for flood gates. The raised railway bed seems like a decent defense-in-depth point to split the neighborhood into two sections. I'm not sure which scenario is more likely - water coming up washington from the mystic, or...

Ragon Institute | 624 Main Street | Kendall Square

I was told back ~20 years ago that the building with the fake dropcloth facade was a Kodak lab back before MIT acquired it, and contained some exotic chemical contamination that was tough to deal with (Like, stuff that was never made in sufficient quantities to even have an MSDS or any official...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Herding my kids through the "hamster killtubes" is reliably terrifying. Of course, the walk down inner belt to see the GLX construction and the dog park is one of my kids favorite walks so we have to do it all the time.

88 Black Falcon Avenue | Seaport

This building currently houses several autonomous car companies, if you are having a hard time picturing a tech company that also needs a bunch of truck/vehicle bay space. Also, on the "how do you get there" topic, like a lot of seaport buildings, the building runs a private shuttle to south...

Flats on First (Kendall East) | 107-139 First Street | East Cambridge | Cambridge

You joke, but the people with jobs at weird hours that aren't well served by public transportation typically do trend low income and poc. That's like... an actual thing, not some concern troll. Obviously the best solution long term is to expand public transit, not retain the parking forever...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I'm in East and was here for the station naming slap-fight. In general, there is a lot of antipathy in East toward Brickbottom. It's seen as a bunch of out-of-touch elitists living in their designer "artist lofts" that don't really live in the neighborhood, yet they always try to speak for all...

    Fantasy T maps

The name suggestion I hear most often in the neighborhood for the Spring Hill stop is "Conway".

    Graffiti Images, Art, or Nuisance

Even as someone participating in the digression, pulling it out into it's own thread and decluttering this one seems cromulent.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I actually like the tower and love the base, it's just the weird inner tube around the middle that I hated in the renders and still hate.

The best art doesn't come from a community meeting or a commission. (EDIT: The best art doesn't HAVE to come from... initial version was too strong. Art by consensus can be good too.) Murals aren't graffiti. I'm hoping for some actual free-for-all space, not just planned murals. But it won't...

    Graffiti Images, Art, or Nuisance

I hope they consider opening some of the walls up for artwork in an organized fashion. I'm of the opinion that even bad graffiti is better than a blank wall.

Hotel and Residential Development | 20 Inner Belt Road | East Somerville

Site gate was open yesterday so I got a good shot of this rig. Slurry was bubbling up from the ground so I assume it was pumping concrete down to displace the slurry? Or maybe it was just pumping in more slurry? Not sure if I saw concrete infrastructure on site. Big site though, lots of activity.

    Grounding the McGrath

Can someone explain why grounding McGrath is considered a positive at all? I live right there, and I walk through the "eyesore" block next to the future GLX stations all the time, so I get why the current conditions aren't ideal, but the alternative of grounding that much traffic seems way...

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

I worked for a company at one point that moved out of Kendal to Burlington. They lost 70% of their engineering talent in the move, and it tanked the company. Don't underestimate how many tech workers will just say "nah" if asked to commute out of the city.

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

We're assuming they will have some sort of bond process for the actual construction - so far, they only did that for the money to buy the land, not to build anything on it. There was, however, equipment on site today, multiple vehicle in plumbing company livery (???). No idea what's up with that...

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

The demo wrapped up at 98 Washington, and they took down the temporary fire station, so now the site is empty. And now we wait. Fingers crossed they go with something taller than their initial concept. Plenty of room on that site for some street facing single story retail or food or something...
