    Crazy Transit Pitches

I think the best and more reasonable scenarioto serve the relatively small T using populous in Marblehead would be if my proposal for a BLX was implemented with a Vinnin Square station - and from there implement an enhanced bus route (a “BRT LITE” if you will) feeding into that station. It would...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

That’s misleading because a portion of North Beverly, southern parts Centerville and most of the Farms (outside of Hale St) have plenty of forest. So the parts of Beverly where most residential/buisness are located are easily comparable to other North Shore localities (Salem, Peabody...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

The complaints about the timing is exactly why the green line needs a complete overhaul. I’m not sure how extensive the work or high the cost would be but it would be nice if the Green Line was converted to a traditional LRT (similar to LA) away from the Trolley like system.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

At most stations, at least in the Subway portion of the GL the doors are open between 15-20 seconds

Other People's Rail: Amtrak, commuter rail, rapid transit news & views outside New England

I think Needham would trade their CR service for Orange Line service. Faster, way more frequent, connects with the Red, Blue, Green and CR.

Other People's Rail: Amtrak, commuter rail, rapid transit news & views outside New England

As I said these numbers were rough estimates - some reasonably accurate based on education-supported assumptions and others very rough based on limited knowledge of a project (also some were exact figures taken from the local transit agencies) Not sure why you’re bringing a GLX to Needham into...

Other People's Rail: Amtrak, commuter rail, rapid transit news & views outside New England

Meant to put this last part as a new post (instead of editing it into the original post). Curious if anyone has some answers to this though...

Other People's Rail: Amtrak, commuter rail, rapid transit news & views outside New England

I should have clarified I was talking about extending it all the way to Needham. And at a distance of roughly 7 miles that’s about $500m per mile. We’re talking about the T here. Nothing comes in at a fair market price. Everything comes in at over priced.

Other People's Rail: Amtrak, commuter rail, rapid transit news & views outside New England

On this subject alone. I have been excited about these bills for a long time and I can’t tell you how disappointed I’am with at least the first one. Not because of the size either - because the lack of investment in our public transit. When talking about infrastructure in the past people always...

    Gillette Stadium

I remember it didn’t poll well among those who lived in the city itself, something around 50-38... which is likely what ultimately doomed it. That stadium would’ve been filled FAR more than 8 times a year. That would’ve been the most used (non-baseball) stadium in the country year in and year...

    Boston Alt History

I think the more likely outcome of an 8 year JFK administration would’ve been RFK winning election around 76. They were incredibly shrewd politically and they would’ve been aware that even with JFK likely leaving office with astronomically high approvals pretty everywhere but the Deep South -...

    Gillette Stadium

I believe it to be true but you’re right its not relevant and of course the fortunes of a football team shouldn’t be prioritized over benefits to a city (although 13yr old me would have told you the fortunes of the pre-curse busting Red Sox were more important than any life saving research at...

    Gillette Stadium

I still remember the Jets plan for a West Side Stadium. That would’ve turned out to be the flagship stadium in both the NFL and the nation. Imagine a stadium of SoFi Stadiums quality just a few blocks from MidTown Manhattan? With a gorgeous new LIRR, MetroNorth, NJT, PATH & NYC Subway mega...

    Gillette Stadium

Yeah I mean I’m not in love with the spaceship look of it but I don’t think it’s as bad as it’s made out to be. I think with some development around it. Maybe a roof over it. I think they should stay there. Or if they don’t - somewhere else in Chicago. Arlington Heights is a hike. It’s further...

    Gillette Stadium

Absolutely insanity lol. I don’t get what’s so bad about Soldier Field. It’s location is amazing. It has rail decently close. It’s historic and modern. Maybe a roof would be awesome but that’s it. Moving to Arlington Heights would be a painfully terrible decision. Arlington Heights is a solid...

I’m as rabid of a Boston sports fan as there possibly could be. Ticket prices are too high for all the teams but that’s something I think Bostonians are willing to put up with if the product is championship caliber. The Garden is 100000x better the venue it used to be. 10 years ago it was...

Any more 600+ footers on the horizon?

Looking at that map it’s dawned on me - the only real areas you’ll ever see massive towers in Boston would be in the Back Bay. Unless the density in our area took off to such a degree that the Cambridge waterfront became a secondary skyline.
