MIT East Campus - Kendall Square Gateway | Cambridge

Also a bit of architectural license. This artist rendering has the Kendall station entrance way farther back form the street than it actually is, which is over-emphasizing that particular cantilever.

Proto | 88 Ames St | Kendall Square | Cambridge

Re: Ames Street Residence | 88 Ames Str. - Kendall Sq. | Cambridge I stand somewhat. corrected - it was Boston Properties who agreed to help pay for Binney park back when they took part of the roof garden park. Article below says it was a $2M commitment at the time (Geez - was that 5 years...

Re: Ames Street Residence | 88 Ames Str. - Kendall Sq. | Cambridge Interesting - since Google already agreed to pay for said park in order to take part of the roof garden for offices....

Re: Ames Street Residence | 88 Ames Str. - Kendall Sq. | Cambridge Funny I spend so much time looking up at the building that I failed to look down. While walking past today I noticed the columns for the front of the building are actually IN Ames st. I didn't realize they were reducing the...

    SUPERCEDED MXD | Kendall Square

Thanks for the feedback all... Up/Down construction is a strong possibility. I didn't realize there was going to be that much parking underneath... Groundbreaking tomorrow might explain the gravel laid out today. Crane also being assembled, but it's not that tall. And has a strange pulley...

    SUPERCEDED MXD | Kendall Square

OK, who knows something about construction? They've been doing strange things. Last week they dug some holes, poured concrete inside them, then covered them back up (no forms/rebar/anything). This week they've been digging trenches, putting forms in. Then pouring concrete between the dirt...

Draper Laboratory | 555 Technology Square | Kendall Square | Cambridge

Correct. What you are seeing are little frosted squares to cut down on the direct sunlight glare. Solar was investigated, but installation and maintenance of a clear system was prohibitively expensive.

Yah, but you can head to the garage and take an image. Decided to do so today, since it is just about down.... Lots of water, and a nice steel recycle pile. 20170517-IMG_2801.jpg by John McLachlan, on Flickr 20170517-IMG_2798.jpg by John McLachlan, on Flickr

Re: Ames Street Residence | 88 Ames Str. - Kendall Sq. | Cambridge Surprised to see some pilings outside the windows of the 'mead hall' building (90 broadway). Is the new building going to occlude a section of 90?

Agree with the Akamai thoughts as well. After giving up the move to downtown and saying they want a new building in Kendall - this fits the bill to consolidate all there rentals into one location. But, that would mean their current building would need a new tenant....

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

ahhh. the 17CC address sounds like that could be it. All the current news hype has been about the new executive building across Binney street - very little about the CC site. Unfortunately, that may mean the building could be as mundane as the existing building it will be attached to...

    Cambridge Infill and Small Developments

Any word on what is being built outside Kendall, at the corner of Binny & Galileo Galilei? The last "open" parcel of Cambridge Center. Trees and grass are long gone and they're driving piles this week. But with all the other construction on Binney, this project seems to have been lost in the...

Copley Place Expansion and Tower | Back Bay

Re: Copley Place plan calls for condo tower :) I like it. But it is true. The meeting announcements for this group were of the line of "come and help oppose the building". Those of us int he south end who support it aren't going to go to such a meeting just to get into an argument with...

Ink Block (Boston Herald) | 300 Harrison Avenue | South End

Re: Boston Herald Property Redevelopment Indeed B, that is the one with the rail spur (although I don't know when the Herald last received paper by rail). My little bird also told me that 5 stores is "what they could get financing for" - so even if it's not what anyone wants, they'd rather...

Silver Line - Phase III / BRT in Boston

Speaking of which, 'strategic planning' plans are to make Washington st 2-way between Marginal and East Berkeley - effectively removing the only 'exclusive' bus lanes on the Silver Lie BRT line. :)

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Re: Green Line to Medford to start in 2011 So now the T can sell said property to offset the $470 mil pricetag. Wonder if they'll build a 'full' building and rent out the upper floors to make some money as well... Never quite sure why they don't do that everywhere..

Silver Line - Phase III / BRT in Boston

Re: Silver Line Phase III That's one of the Silver Line's dirty little secrets. The 'original' Silver Lie was ONLY the green loop section, then going to the airport. The Gov't wouldn't fund it because the ridership projections were too low. That's when someone had the idea to connect it to...

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

Re: Columbus Center I'm even more puzzled, as some time ago one of the plans was for the STATE to pay for the decking, to help lower the cost of the building overhead... When did that change? Or is w/c giving the state back it's own property? :)
