Some of the trees are dying and an arborist recommended removing them before a failure or potential for one to fall over. Something about the root balls not having anywhere to go/grow. They committed to replacement trees equal to or more than the existing shade cover. I have been wondering...

Literally just face-palmed. Why didn’t I think of that!

The steel is just galloping upwards, good for them! A query, did they jump the main crane (Boylston) back down a section? I hadn’t been by for a couple weeks due to July 4 vacation travel back to Ireland. It looks lower than I thought it did in early June. Anyone know? Curious if that’s a...

Random question: what’s up with the goofy entrance to 300 sf of nothing at the SE corner of the building, east of the parking garage doors and opposite the NEU entrance to the Colonnade building at 101 Belvidere? It remains a raw space with workers storing tools and supplies, but there’s no...

    Prudential of the Day

Just saw this when the thread got bumped; is this that ridiculous frat house-to-condo project at 262 Comm Ave that has been stalled since pre-pandemic times? The building to the east/left seems to match (hard to tell tho, they had put the scaffold back into plastic last time I was by, roughly...

    "Dirty Old Boston"

I loved walking through and stopping to look at this sculpture some 25 years ago. I echo the query earlier in this thread, if anyone knows where it went after Boston Properties renovated. I have a tickle at the edge of my brain that it was a long-term loan from the artist, who maybe took it...

MGM Music Hall (née Fenway Theater) | 12 Lansdowne St | Fenway

Theatrical/venue construction has huge lead times (it’s all custom to the room) and then they have to tune/test the hall; that, combined with supply chain issues, are why I’m not surprised at 2023.

Rumor at street level is it was VEd due to the massive cost overruns when they failed to deliver on time.

At one of the public meetings, Boston Property said their arborist advised they are showing signs of stress (dying), and would be replaced no matter approve of the plan. They do have replacement of an equivalent shade coverage in their proposal, IIRC.

Joe Lewis's lawyer said it's deliberately set back so they stay within as-of-right so basically, people can nitpick finish and balconies and the like, but they are good to go. The only variance request is the one everyone does when working in the GCOD. That's pretty unusual, in my experience.

Poor Boston.com. That's an outdated image. David Manfredi presented a new proposal for the upper five floors on Monday that better aligns the upper fenestration with the existing C&B facade, modified the corners, and has a different material treatment on the east and west walls. I old and don't...

Am I wrong thinking NABB can comment (as is the right of any private citizen), but they don't actually have jurisdiction? Boylston is outside their veto power, right?

I don't wonder if they were all three built at the same time, by the same mason, given when they pop up on the Sanburn maps. Was only viewing on my phone, and the resolution was poor, but they kinda just appear. And, of course these days are all connected in the basements and upper floors, and...

Crate’s lease was to be up this month and they planned to leave, but Tavistock convinced them to stick around until they got further into the PNG process. As fa as Atlantic Fish Company, rumor is they’re want to double the capacity of pre-COVID. I can’t wait to see what happens.

They only (briefly) presented some rudimentary concepts on the observatory only because they knew they’d get questions. The point of the meeting and requested modification to the PDA was regarding the 8,200 sf change to the garden/lawn.

    Underground station layouts

EGE, Any chance you mightat some point consider Columbia, er, JFK/UMass? I lived down that way for a summer many, many years ago, and was always fascinated by the flying junction north of the station when I commuter to college in Back Bay each morning.

As pleased as I am that the tower is looking (more) complete, I am super angry at the state of the podium and lack of progress. My commute to my office from the easterly, South End side, to the BB/Fens, westerly side requires me to cross Belvidere/Dalton twice in about 300 yards, where there’s...
