According to the track map there already is one. Potential problems with adding a new headhouse: An access point could just be a hole in the ground with a crane to lift things in/out, pretty basic and not really something that leads into a bigger project Assuming the access point is somewhere...

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

I think letters+sequential numbers is the best of both worlds. Letter tells you where you check in or leave, but if you're connecting between flights the number tells you how far you have to walk.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

My understanding is that DRT has extremely high costs per rider. In a large, dense city like Boston, fixed routes that are cheaper to operate seem like a much better option.

Public Meeting | Red Line Hi-Rail Access Tunnel Project (Virtual) Join the MBTA and project design team for a discussion on the Red Line Hi-Rail Tunnel Project. We're building a hi-rail access tunnel for work vehicles along the Red Line. A hi-rail vehicle is a work truck equipped with a...

Probably, but also why? Apart from marginally higher rolling stock costs it's not really a problem.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

"Drivers need to pay more" and "People should pay for the transit they use" are not even close to being mutually exclusive. Car infrastructure is subsidized and negative externalities are not adjusted for. Drivers, particularly in Boston, should need to pay higher taxes on gas, vehicle...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

The only potential alternative long-term funding source is tax revenue. So either every worker in the state can pay an extra $200 tax, or people can be charged only for the services they use. One of those sounds significantly more fair to me.

It's definitely possible, at least mostly. The Red Line directly follows Mass Ave/Main St from Porter to Charles/MGH, and then pretty closely follows Dorchester Ave from Broadway all the way to Ashmont, while North Quincy to Quincy Adams is paralleled by Newport Ave and Burgin Pkwy. The southern...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

Of all inbound SL3 riders who start their trip between Chelsea and Airport, 26% get off at or before Airport, 41% get off between WTC @ Congress St and Courthouse, and 33% get off at South Station. Of riders who board at Airport, around 45% go to South Station, and 55% go to Seaport. Given that...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

I get that yes, zone fares lead to inequality, but I think there's definitely such a thing as too equal, and the fare for a 5 minute subway ride from Eastie to Downtown and a regional rail ride from Framingham to South Station being the same crosses that line. You need to get creative with how...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

It can cost too much compared to other countries and still be worth it, those aren't mutually exclusive.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

I'm aware PATH is classified as a Commuter Railroad, but I'm pretty sure it never shares any track with any mainline rail. So apart from being a fun little oddity/trivia answer, it's not really significant in any way. Agreed, this is a very fun alt-history scenario but not a super practical...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

If you're not through-running those trains then sure, but through-running those trains is kinda the point of NSRL. CR Platforms, and more importantly Amtrak platforms, are 3 inches higher than OL platforms. So either you convert the OL stations, or just omit any lines that run with Amtrak...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

If we're operating this like a Japanese subway line, short-turns would fill in any gaps in regional service to provide consistent headways on the central sections all day. That would probably be to/from: Readville West Roxbury Auburndale/Riverside Weston/128 or Brandeis/Roberts Salem or Beverly...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

This is an interesting proposal, and would basically amount to turning the OL into a Japanese-style subway/regional rail combo line, but it would definitely come with some catches that could (probably would) end up making it cost more than just doing NSRL: Longer trains, and therefore...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

But you can't just set that part aside. The fact that finding something to lease in the first place will be such a challenge means that the leasing costs are going to be quite high, as you say around 5m per year. So in one single 5 year CIP worth of leasing, we'd already be almost halfway...
