This is both cool and kind of sad to see.

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

I wish we would fetishize good green space, instead of lots of green space.

Kenmore Square North (WHOOP) | 533-541 Commonwealth Ave | Fenway

That Whoop sign is now iconic and can never be taken down.

I think one of my complaints about MIT is that they consistently overpromise and underdeliver their community benefits. "We're going to build graduate student housing," "most graduate students will be priced out and we we'll struggle to fill the dorm." "We're going to build a fun greenspace in...

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

Update. They claim there's a new presentation on the Volpe website, but afact, the newest one is from July: https://news.mit.edu/2021/volpe-project-prepares-design-1007 I wonder how much new graduate residences will cost. I think if they really try, they can break $3000 for a 1 bedroom this...

    🔹 What's Happening With Project X?

Do you mean that are planned? I think the Harbor Tower might be? Otherwise, why wouldn't there be more tall buildings in the future?

    Kendall/MIT Infill and Small Developments

I legit don't get the hate for this building. It looks like a mix between a tiny music city and a set of gramophones pointed outward. It should have a big, welcoming glass pavilion beneath the towers. My biggesy complaint is the gsf...not a lot of room for office and workspaces, I think they...

    Kendall/MIT Infill and Small Developments

I don't know if this has been posted, but I stumbled upon some renders of the new MIT Music Building being designed by SANAA. IMO, it looks quite nice. https://betterworld.mit.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/renderings-music-bldg_Dec-20_2020_optimized.pdf?x64556

Even if pharma lab space is a bubble and that bubble bursts, lab space can also be used as office space, which there's a shortage of in Boston regardless of industry. I'm not really sure why a seafood processing or distribution business needs to be on the waterfront.

Crazy, but Encore opens the door to that.

SKY Everett | 114 Spring Street | Everett

If they are actually going to try to transform this into a "destination" area, I wish they would go all in on resort/tourist accommodations rather than gentrify it with expensive housing.

    Fair point, unfortunately.

They're also historic though, meaning Random will probably survive. The Sunoco, meanwhile, will go eventually, but I could also see it lasting for a good several years before MIT decides to redevelop it.

Finally. Though, Sunoco literally just repaired that station. Will they keep it as a gas station or redevelop it?

Look at how they massacred my boy.

Graduate Junction (MIT West Campus) | 269-301 Vassar St | Cambridge

Wow, it looks SO much better. My only complaint is it lacks the fluorescent colors the rest of that street has.

Honestly, I wish it were a public toilet; not enough public toilets in Boston!

Flats on First (Kendall East) | 107-139 First Street | East Cambridge | Cambridge

We could (somewhat) get rid of on-street parking, but we would need to start building municipal, permit parking garages. We would still need some on-street spaces for handicapped people. I would love to see the data that brought you to these estimates/conclusions.
