Should this be in Worcester & Massachusetts Beyond 128? I guess it's right on the cusp.

What is that tree-road circle at the bottom that appears to go into a building?

The Engine (MIT) | 730-750 Main Street | Cambridge

I'd expect rather that UHaul would just relocate somewhere else or get rid of that location. That land is so valuable and a Uhaul location could be placed almost anywhere.

The Engine (MIT) | 730-750 Main Street | Cambridge

Wow. Here I was thinking that this was a prime business to sell property in a really desirable area. I thought MIT would make a play at this. But apparently, Big Candy is roaring back.

Does anyone know what's happening next to the candy factory next door? There seems to be some new construction there too.

Kenmore Square North (WHOOP) | 533-541 Commonwealth Ave | Fenway

I finally got to see this in person. I think the absolute worst part of this is that the red "brick" facade isn't even close to convincing. The bricks aren't interleaved, they're gridded, they would provide no structural support. It looks so weird. I don't know what the designer was trying...

    Urbx "Skyscraper" Supermarket, Seaport

Well, they are proposing what sounds like a 15 story vending machine, so I agree. :ROFLMAO:

    Urbx "Skyscraper" Supermarket, Seaport

It's a little different here. If you decide to do pick and pack - yeah, that's not there. But if you design the warehouse in a way that you don't need "pick" - think a giant vending machine - then this becomes more feasible.

    Urbx "Skyscraper" Supermarket, Seaport

Crazy and cool idea if it's actually automated, and not automated in the way Amazon warehouses are "automated." This would be incredible.

Arsenal Yards | Arsenal Mall Redevelopment | Watertown

Honestly, I don't think Watertown, as a whole, HAS huge aspirations here. It's not Boston or Cambridge. It's Watertown. And overflow trailer might be just fine for Watertown.

Counterpoint - doesn't the Boston area have a lack of office space in general? Even if this isn't a "destination" lab in 10 years, it will be serviceable as supplemental lab/office space.

The Engine (MIT) | 730-750 Main Street | Cambridge

Nah, MIT would tear down old buildings in a heartbeat without pressure from the community if they felt it made financial or campus planning sense. See: Bexley, Eastgate, Cyclotron, Rinaldi Tile Building...I'd say some of those were not worth saving but it's also not like these buildings are...

    Kendall/MIT Infill and Small Developments

What is the rationale for the max floor area? I never understood that. Anyway, it's an improvement on what's there, I just wish they picked a color scheme that matched the brick a bit better.

88 Black Falcon Avenue | Seaport

That location will have a beautiful view...why not something like housing or a hotel that could capitalize on that?

Prism Apts. | 50 Rogers St | Kendall Square | Cambridge

I guess I'm in the minority, but to me this building looks awful in person. Doesn't complement the area and the bricks look...bad.

Graduate Junction (MIT West Campus) | 269-301 Vassar St | Cambridge

Disagree. Simmons, the daycare center, the metro warehouse, the new undergraduate dorms, the theater arts building, the Hyatt, the athletics buildings, and even Tang are all colorful, varied, and somewhat geometrically interesting. It's just the cluster of this, Westgate, and a few other old...

Graduate Junction (MIT West Campus) | 269-301 Vassar St | Cambridge

I agree, I was actually going to say in my last post that it's the window bays that cause me to dislike it, upon further inspection.

Graduate Junction (MIT West Campus) | 269-301 Vassar St | Cambridge

Disagree; it blends in with everything to the west of it, but it clashes heavily with Simmons. Not that it's easy to mesh with Simmons, but some commonality in appearance or building materials (some metal/chrome on the facade?) could have gone a long way.

MIT Stephen A. Schwarzman College of Computing | Kendall Square | Cambridge

Ohhh....really deep tunnel then? Yeah, I agree that this is trickier than I thought, then... But, I think building 46 already made a viaduct impossible. It is still possible to build a road overpass there, though it makes turning difficult/impossible.

Ah, now I know what this facade reminds me of.
